Had to buy a new remote handset now I’ve lost all recordings, ability to record and freeze frame It is just as if the handset isn’t “talking” to the humax? Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated
Please could you tell us which make and model of Humax PVR you have? Also which model of remote you have purchased (it is usually shown on the front of the remote)?

If you are too quick you get the no recordings message. If you leave the box for 3 or 4 mins after going back to live TV the recordings list populates itself. There is no need to switch off the box or remove the power.
I agree with Graham but in my experience, you don’t need to wait for 3 or 4 minutes; 30 seconds to a minute could well be long enough. (I am guessing the time will vary depending on the number of stored recordings).

I have a Netgear D7000 router. I conect to the FVP via a Powerline adapter to extend the ethernet connection, so it is a wired connection.
I agree Powerlines usually work fine but we have come across plenty of examples where they have introduced problems .
On the D7000 router on the Internet Connection page I can choose to get the DNS address from my ISP or I can specify the Primary and Secondary DNS addresses.
I configure the primary DNS server as OpenDNS (208.67.222.222) and the secondary DNS as the ISP.
On the FVP under Configure LAN only the Primary DNS Server address is entered and this is set to the same as the Gateway Address (the IP of the router). Not sure if this is right so may try setting the router to open DNS Primary and secondary addresses and do the same on the FVP.
Setting it to router is theoretically a perfectly reasonable thing to do. In practice with SOME routers it causes problems for reasons that are not well understood. My practice on the Humax is to set primary DNS to OpenDNS and secondary to ISP DNS bypassing the router DNS caching.
Please note there is nothing magic about OpenDNS; you can probably use any of the other publicly available DNS providers (Google, DyDNS etc). I favour OpenDNS because when I did a small study a few years ago (nothing to do with PVRs), OpenDNS was the most reliable performer. I haven’t had any problems since so haven’t bothered to retest.

There seems to be a lot of EPG issues with this box for some reason
I suspect the general issue is to do with the networking interaction between the Humax and the router with a strong probability that the issue is DNS related. I use OpenDNS and have none of the reported problems.

It can only mean the internal WiFi card in the 4000t must be on the blink. Anybody had any experience in replacing the WiFi card, that is if one is available.
There is a picture of the internals at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/new-fvp-5000t-1/page/8 and I assume the wireless card is the silver component with two white leads coming from it. I wouldn’t be as quick as you are to assume the card is faulty. Perhaps try connecting to a friends WiFi or even your phone as a hotspot and see if the problem persists when connected to a different source.

Hi all. I have the FVP-4000T but my remote is playing up ( batteries are fine ).
My question is : Do I need an exact replacement or can I use any Humax remote ?
My remote model is RM-LO1.
You would do better to get the improved RM-L08. How old is your FVP? If less than 2 years and you registered it with Humax then contact technical support and they should send you a free replacement.

It seems like its a codec issue on the T2 – anyway to manually update the codecs on the T2 with those from the 5000T?
I think it is very unlikely that could be done.

But the next day the movie has disappeared (it deletes itself).
However that does not happen when I record TV shows
Please could you give us some specific examples (Channel, date, time) of movies that disappear and TV shows that remain. Have you checked that the vanished movies are not in a folder with a different name?

My setup: FVP-5000T and Transcend Storejet 2TB usb HDD.
Please could you tell us how the drive is formatted (FAT32, EXT2/2, NTFS)? For what its worth my FVP sees all the files on a FAT32 USB drive plugged into the rear port.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I want to replace my old Fox T2. Was thinking of the FVP 5000T 500gb version with the addition of the H3 Espresso.
First thing is I wouldn’t bother with the H3 Espresso as most reports on here are negative. I have both the FVP-5000T and the HDR-FOX T2. I mainly use the FVP-5000T now because sub titles work properly across all channels and it doesn’t suffer from the problem with blips in the sound when connected to my LG TV. However the FVP is not as “polished” a product as the HDR. There are lots of mildly irritating inconsistencies in its behaviour and its rather slow (in comparison to the HDR) response to the remote as unacceptable although it doesn’t bother me. It feels as though the software development was stopped too early.
The basic recording performance is reliable and the third tuner is sometimes useful but the recording performance is not as good as the HDR when there are last minute changes to the schedule. I suggest you go and try one in a store before making a purchase.

We’re getting the WiFi won’t connect to the internet ‘WLAN not configured’
The obvious question is have you configured the WiFi by inputting the SSID and WiFi Passphrase?
