I think there are too many to make this suggestion practical
Why? All the BBC IP addresses I found were in a contiguous range ‘212.58.224.0 – 212.58.255.255’.

Thanks but I have been away for six weeks and my sister tried to use it around three weeks ago same problem. So I don’t think its the weather
OK so please tell us where in the country you are or which transmitter you receive from.

1 – Are we suggesting that I need to encompass that entire list of IP addresses within the router, to hopefully enable the Humax catch-up services to bypass the VPN?
If you want to experiment and your router will allow you to specify a range of IP Addresses then my guess is the ones most likely to be involved in blocking access for iPlayer are those associated with the BBC. You could try ‘212.58.224.0 – 212.58.255.255’ and see if it helps.

Hi I have two identical humax boxes one downstairs one in the bedroom, both show a message signal scrambled
If you are in the South of England then it is probably due to the current weather with extreme high pressure. See https://downdetector.co.uk/status/freeview/map/ I can’t suggest anything better than waiting for the weather to change. With a Freeview Play box you can at least use catchup to watch some of the programmes.

I ran wireshark for about 3 minutes while watching iPlayer. The endpoints are shown in the attached images. The streaming endpoints are clearly shown. But many others too after pressing Freeview Play button. I have no idea what else is going on but I guess that if any IP addresses are blocked in any way, iPlayer may not work.
It is interesting to do an IP WHOIS Lookup on the IP addresses. The content is being delivered from Lightning Networks who are specialists in caching for streaming services. The 212.58.xxx.xxx addresses are the BBC. There is nothing that ties directly to Humax but there are quite a lot of addresses that are allocated to Amazon AWS and could be being used by anybody. Other companies that are in that lists are Edgecast, Akomi, BT, Fastly, Microsoft, Opera, Plusnet. I am not sure any of this helps.

Presumably using FTP should work OK ?
If there is an FTP client in the Chrome Store then yes; at a quick look I could see one. A possible solution is to visit ftp://website/ in Chrome. For example:
ftp://username:password@192.168.1.1/
I don’t have a FOXSAT to try that on.

Take the batteries out for about half an hour.
Quicker to take the batteries out and hold down a key for 10 seconds to drain any residual voltage and then replace the batteries.

You would need Samba enabled on the Chromebook. Easy on a PC based laptop. No idea if possible on a chromebook.
Samba is a default program on the Chromebook. I think the problem is that it doesn’t support SMB 1.

Have sent my 1010s Humax box away to Digi repairs. Hopefully the box will be returned in two weeks or so.
Please let us know how it works out.

If I switch to channel 4 (or whatever channel it was with no info), watch it for a moment then open the epg, all info is there.
All the MUXs carry the full EPG however the time to broadcast the full EPG may vary between multiplexes. I don’t know what the current situation is but in the past the BBC multiplex had the shortest time to broadcast the full EPG (used to be a bit less than 5 minutes).

I think I have solved it. It seems that using FTP or SMB to transfer files to PC does not decrypt.
Correct; however if you have a Windows 8 or later PC and follow Barry’s FAQ posting https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/file-transfer and look for the FV-4000T Media Server then you will get decrypted SD recordings. I suspect it uses some mechanism that combines SAMBA and DLNA but I have nver gotten round to researching exactly what is going on. As I currently can’t download the image from the FAQ I have added an old copy to this post.

I set it up, so that it the router was instructed to bypass either the website (e.g. bbc.co.uk) or the BBC’s IP address (151.101.64.81) and all traffic to either of these should pass through WAN1, and not the VPN.
Possibly the wrong web site. I can’t speak for the Freesat boxes but the Freeview boxes access iPlayer via a Humax portal.

As I have said, since I connected the 5000t to my internet the EPG is working perfectly going forward, but there is no channel information at all going backwards.
Is BBC iPlayer (or any of the other players) working?
My Panasonic TV is not connected to the internet,so I suppose that could be the reason.
That will have nothing to do with the lack of backwards EPG.

As suggested I am suspicious an infrared source is being detected from somewhere but as yet not identified it.
If it isn’t a little used remote stuck down the side of a chair or under a book then various other things like faulty domestic lighting have been found to cause the problem.

Whether you can see the 8th day depends I suppose on what time in the day the EPG gets refreshed.
It is continually refreshed; you can see this in situations where a programme is running late. Sadly the recording performance in these situations is not as good as the HDR-FOX T2 which is a continual source of disappointment.
