Have just tried it, and bizarrely, the Sony TV and the Humax box have the same MAC address! Therefore, it would only let me bind one IP address, as it would let the second through with the same MAC.

How are you determining the MAC address of the devices?

As others have said, I think the recordings are starting prior to the proper CRID being transmitted and stopping when the CRID is transmitted – this may, I guess, sometimes mean that the link to the programme details is not properly picked up.

I think it is unlikely that they would start before the correct CRID is broadcast. My guess would be that the running status (part of the metadata in the broadcast stream) is set to active causing the recording to start but then goes inactive after a short time causing the recording to stop and then goes active again. Clearly only the broadcasters will know if this is feasible and what might be causing it. I have only suffered one failed recording recently but I have also seen a couple of examples where a recording is labelled as failed due to the programme not being broadcast but is actually present in its entirety.

My difficulty is that I don’t know how the recording mechanism that follows the broadcaster schedule actually works (as opposed to using strict time with padding) – so this is a hypothesis at the moment.

The other Humax Freeview boxes all use the meta data in the broadcast stream to control start and stop when accurate recording is active (I think it looks for change of state in the running status). Why would the FVP boxes be different?

Now BBC4 has stopped working as no signal. Every other channel ok.

That is very odd as it is carried on the same multiplex as BBC One unless you are talking about BBC 4 HD which is carried on the COM8 multiplex?

Getting fed up with my hDR 1100S remote.

I have to press the forward & back buttons several times before it will work as it should. 🙄

The same applies to all the buttons on the remote (press several times).

I bought it from john Lewis, so is it worth talking to them do you think?

How long since you purchased it?

I have a Humax PVR-9150T but when I try and watch certain TV channels the picture eeps breaking up and I get the following messages. This channel is scrambled or not available and no or bad signal.

have you tried an auto retune. If that doesn’t fix the problem then try a manual retune using the instructions at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/week-old-9300t-and-epg-wont-fill-up-for-week#post-7097

Monday 9.23pm – I watching Cold Feet live on ITV1HD whilst recording Channel4HD and BBC1HD. Everything was fine and then the picture on Cold Feet froze for a few seconds whilst I could still hear the audio from the programme and then the box, all on it’s own accord, rebooted itself. As I was there I was able to quickly manually start recording the two programmes I had been recording which obviously stopped recording during the reboot so I only missed a minute or so. It’s my first ‘failed due to lose of power’ since November.

I think that is the Humax software crashing and then restarting. Every PVR I have owned will do this occasionally; I assume due to a rarely experienced software bug (or bugs).

I think the Humax is telling me that if I go for this option, my recordings will be lost.

No; it is telling you that the schedule for future recordings will be lost and will need to be reinstated; existing recordings will not be lost be any sort of tune.

Surely the effectiveness of that workaround depends entirely on the original DNS used by the router?

No; most routers don’t function as full DNS servers but just cache DNS requests (many using DNSMASQ) and it is somehow the caching mechanism that isn’t playing well with the Humax. Setting an external DNS address takes the router out of the equation.

Probably the wrong choice of word. All I meant was using the Humax’s power settings to “restart” it.

The software method that I advocate (and has helped a number of people) is to set the DNS address on the Humax to something other than the router. Obviously as your replacement box is working then no need to do anything but worth keeping in mind in case the problem crops up again.

I tried the software route. It doesn’t work. All it does is put the unit into standby.

What software route did you use?

Everything was working fine with my Humax connecting to my router when it suddenly lost connection.

Have you tried the age old remedy of turning off the power to the router for 10 seconds?

Hi, appreciate any advice on this one. I have a PVR-9300T which works perfectly apart from one oddity. I set up the machine, tuned in and set the picture settings to 16:9 and 720P to get the best picture on my widescreen led tv. If I leave the unit switched on all is fine; if I put it in standby with the remote or switch off at the back, the settings are lost and it reverts to 4:3 and 576P.

I’ve tried a different front panel and it’s fine with that.

Can I check that I am understanding correctly: you change the front panel and settings are retained when power is turned off? It is a bit odd as I always thought the setting were held in flash RAM on the mother board.

I noticed there’s a small battery on the front panel pcb – is it likely the battery has failed and with no power the board won’t hold the data?

Are you sure it is a battery? I have never owned a 9300T so I don’t know but the earlier 9200T has a large capacitor on the front panel to keep the clock chip working during periods when the power is off and I don’t believe there were any data storage components on the front panel.

You may have made a very interesting discovery.

BTW – have confidence that it is not MTU size. This was checked a few weeks ago, and as I recall, the MTU was at the max setting of 1200.

An MTU of 1200 sounds low to me. The MTU on my WAN connection is currently 1492.

    In the playback options

    Instant Replay Time

    What is this?

If you are skipping backwards (using the method described in https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/how-to-use-skip-function) it allows you to set how far back the playback jumps.
