It seems such a shame, a company that used to be really good, Humax appear to be fine with the fact that their last big unit is as poor as it is, Humax done their own firmwares before and that is probably where their main issue lies now, if they it themselves they could have the issues sorted and have a lot more happier customers that will return next time, they will not pay whichever 3rd party company to fix the firmware either.
What evidence do you have that the software was produced by a third party company?

Will give it a go. But why wouldn’t the customer service people suggest that? instead of making me do manual re-rune to get info on channel strengths. I’ve repeatedly told them the signal strength is high 80% to low 90% when words get skipped.
They may not share the view that too strong a signal strength can cause problems but experience on this and other forums is that it can (but there is no certainty that it is the cause of your problems which is why I suggested an experiment).
The TV is an elderly Phillips (French, probably over 10 yrs old) works fine with a UK tuner/box except the volume is stuck at 60

An uncommon (in the UK) TV makes it unlikely that anybody here will know if it could be incompatible.

It didn’t work – the end of the cable from the booster is not compatible with the socket in the back of the PVR.
I should be possible to get an adapter but can you tell us what sort of plug is on the end of the cable see https://www.smartaerials.co.uk/blog/guide-to-tv-aerial-sat-connectors-adapters-plugs

Initially had occasional freezing of picture and sound, latterly picture OK but sound still skipping but now not just a split second but a couple of words at a time. Can anyone shed light on what might be happening and is it fixable or a faulty box? There is already a signal booster on the aerial.
The first thing to do would be to try temporarily removing or bypassing the signal booster. Signal strength can be too high and saturate tuners. I would say a signal strenth no higher than 80% is ideal. If it isn’t possible to carry out a test then inserting a variable attenuator into the aerial feed to the Humax might help. The other possibility that comes to mind is an incompatibility between the Humax and TV. There is a fairly well known issue with the Humax HDR-FOX T2 and certain models of LG TVs that causes sound blips so there just might be an issue with the FVP but I don’t remember anybody reporting it here. Certainly the FVP is fine with my LG TV but the HDR_FOX T2 wasn’t. What make and model is your TV?

I have a Samsung MU6120 TV, and I can watch HD recordings from my FVP4000T over the network.
Thanks, interesting observation. I think that must mean it has support for the DTCP-IP protocol that is used to protect HD recordings by the Humax. It used to be quite rare but is obviously becoming more common.
Edit. When researching this I see you have posted about this previously and I had completely forgotten; my apologies. A bit of googling suggests some modern Panasonic TVs also support DTCP-IP. Any other makes and models of TV with DTCP-IP support?

Ah. That server was off. Now that it’s on, I also see 2 entries in ‘Media Devices’:
FVP-5000T DMR 10.0.0.79
FVP-5000T DMS 10.0.0.79
Excellent.
I can now, for example, view the Humax content on a PC. Cool!
Yup but only SD.
Given a suitable network connected Smart TV in another room, would I thus be able to watch Humax content on it??
I think you should be able to watch SD content if the Smart TV has a DLNA client. To watch HD content from the FVP then you would need another FVP.

A few weeks ago I turned on for UKTV PLAY Samsung smart TV about 5 years old. Never had a problem before the app logo is there but no program what I get is see photo attached when I press the back button it takes me straight back to a TV channel not back to other TV Apps I am in the Isle of Wight any one else have this problem? The message in the attached photo is “Incorrect link”. There was another post about this recently and the solution was to perform a reset to default settings.

ParticipantOk so you are seeing the DIAL server from the Humax but not the DMS server. In Settings, Server settings, what are the active hours and the server status? Could this be another firewall issue?

Mine only appears in ‘Other devices’ not in ‘Media devices’. No idea why!
What exactly do you see in other devices?

Tried turning the Samba server on but no sign of it appears on my network…
I have never understood exactly what is going on with the “Samba” server. On my computer running Windows 10 this is what I see:

It is the DMS server that will give you access to SD recordings and decrypt them. Note certain details redacted. I assume the decryption process involves the DLNA server.

I can FTP into the 5000T and see folders including ‘Video’ however it won’t let me upload a .mp4 file to that folder.
You can’t upload anything to the Video folder. It is accessible so that you take copy of recordings for backup purposes (although they aren’t very useful as they are encrypted). You can copy material to the “Download” folder on the FVP and you should be able to play it from there providing it is in a compatible format.

ParticipantHas anyone here tried the Manhattan T3-R Freeview Play box? The review ratings on Amazon seem a bit better than the FVP boxes.

ParticipantAre you able to test that the DLNA server is working by playing content on another device?

Hoping for some help, when trying to access Netflix via the remote button or the apps section the system crashes and I have no way of returning to the Freeview menu or TV guide other than turning the box off and back on again. Has anyone else encountered this problem before, I can’t seem to find any posts about this issue?
There was a recent post about this which suggested that doing a Factory Default reset (WITHOUT the format HDD option) was the solution.

A digital modulator would make the recordings viewable on a coax distribution system when played back, You need remote TV with a DVB-T HD or a DVB-T2 tuner (most any HD T2 HD ready TV will do). You can even record them using a DVB-T2 Freeview-HD recorder like a Humax HDR-Fox-T2 though you will likely need to set the source to output stereo only audio.
They aren’t cheap starting at about the £100:00 level
I don’t understand how that reply helps with the OP problem of wanting to view media streamed from a PC? Does the HB-1100S have a DLNA client?
