It’s a part time channel so make sure it’s actually on air when you tune the box.

Really? There are other channels broadcast on the same multiplex.

I can not get BBC4 HD after re-tune is the re a problem in receiving this program?

    Bob

BBC 4 HD is carried on the COM7 multiplex which is broadcast at lower power than the multiplex that carries the most commonly used HD channels. Try going to the Freeview Checker at https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/platform-management and see what it says about the signal strength a your location. Also the multiplex is broadcast on channel 55 which means that if you don’t have a wide band aerial that could be the problem.

I was out all day yesterday but on checking today the box has updated to 1.03.52. The transformation to the behaviour of All4 and My5 apps is remarkable and they are very usable now. BBC iPlayer seems a little slower than it was previously to me but is still perfectly usable.

No idea where the 052 software came from.

It will have come over the Internet; it appears to be a staged roll out so not all users will have it installed yet. When I checked yesterday it wasn’t available for my box.

One final thought; I take it you have tried the age old remedy of turning the mains power to the box off for a minute?

Its the 4000T that is showing 052, build date June 2020.

Just for clarity, was your earlier statement “The Humax site shows the latest versions as 1.03.52 and 1.06 respectively.” incorrect?

Any thoughts on how to backdate to 051, is it as simple as downloading off the Humax site onto a USB as if it was an upgrade?

That is certainly what I would try but as I said earlier you need to disconnect it from the Internet otherwise it will just update again.

Going through the settings to try a factory reset I noticed that it’s updated itself to software version 1.03.52 but loader version 1.05. The Humax site shows the latest versions as 1.03.52 and 1.06 respectively.

Have you tried the factory reset yet? If not that would be the first thing to try. Where on the Humax site are you seeing 1.03.52? (I have been keeping an eye on https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=3793&curr_page=sw_release and that is still showing 1.03.51.

Is it possible to backdate to the earlier software version?

I would expect so but it will keep automatically updating to the latest version unless you disconnect the internet connection to the box.

I have some 30 Hercule Poirot recordings from Freeview channel 10 (UK).

In the T2 these are just listed by the recording date and time. I would like some way of adding Agatha Christie’s titles.

Err you can rename on the HDR-FOX T2. In the list of recordings select the recording, press the Opt+ button and select the rename option.

Would this be possible on the latest Humax recorder?

You can’t do it on the latest Humax boxes which omit several useful functions from the earlier boxes.

I assumed that the HDPVR-5000T in the list would be the one?

Nope; that is the Finnish equivalent of the HDR-FOX T2 and dates back at least eight years.

    Is this page new?

    https://uk.humaxdigital.com/open-source/

No it has been there for a long time.

If it’s new, does it mean that perhaps a custom firmware will finally be possible?

For a start it doesn’t appear to list the FVP models although the FVP manual gives an email address to send requests to. Having the open source code that has been modified is a minor step towards custom firmware but the challenge is to get access to the box and understand the memory layout. I don’t think it is impossible to develop custom firmware for the FVP models but it is more difficult and I suspect the people with the skills may be drawn towards the hardware that is designed for open source software.

I’m taking the box back to Currys today to get a replacement.

What software version is the box running? Are you aware that there is a new version being rolled out (hasn’t reached me yet)?

I am told by a user over on hummy.tv that the new software is Software Version UKTFAE 1.03.52. Not available for download from the Humax web site yet.

Well this time the power cycle did more than box reboot. It applied an unannounced firmware update (June 2020).

Could you tell us what the version number of the new software is please?

It looks to me as though my FVP has a pending update to the software for the box itself but because I have a lot of recordings set tonight I can’t let it install yet.

Sorry false alarm; mine didn’t find anything this morning after a search for an update and again after power cycling. It is possible that it is a phased roll out of a new version to avoid the Humax servers being overloaded so worth continuing to check. Also My5 is still not responding after the power cycle.

Edit: There is also a report from a user over on hummy.tv of the new software version so I am hoping it is only a matter of time before we all get it.

A firmware update to the box or a software update to the particular catch up apps you are using?
