thank you. I used new power pack and downloaded new software. Unfortunately still got ‘weak or no signal’ and signal strength shown as zero but all recordings there so could access them.
Have you tried retuning?

Since yesterday morning, my FVP-5000T has lost the majority of channels including all HD and also ITV/C4/C5 on SD. Total detection is 28 TV plus 21 radio.
I have done a full default channel search and checked for any cabling issues.
I have looked at the freeview status checker but that is unable to return a response when I submit my location (Gtr Manchester/Lancashire border).
Also noticed signal test came back showing no signal when checked about 3 hours ago and now has improved to 44% strength, 100% quality but channel search still produces the same 49 total.
If you connect the aerial lead feeding the Humax direct to the TV do you get a full range of channels? When you did a full channel search did you have the Smart option set? If so try again with it off.

I was tuning channel 29 as per the table on uk free tv’s website. I’ll try 58 but last time I tuned it was automatic full smart tune and it didn’t pick it up.
I have concerns about the smart tune; I suggest if you still have problems after a smart tune then try tuning again with the smart option off.
I’m only 5 miles from the transmitter so shouldn’t have signal problems.
You won’t have problems due to the signal being too low but you could have problems due to the signal strength being too high. What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax?

An add-on question concerning Winter Hill. I can’t seem to receive Freeview channel 31, Paramount tv.
What channel number are you using when retuning? I think it should be 58 at the moment but there several changes at Winter Hill in 4 days time (12th August).

However, at times when it’s not working, if I go to examine “storage” it says that none is available, i.e. no HDD !!
Does this mean my HDD is failing?
What can I do?
Clearly there is something not right which is most likely to be the hard drive. I would suggest installing the custom firmware and running fix-disk see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/how-to-fix-hard-drive-and-file-system-problems
If you install the full version of the custom firmware you will be able to interrogate the health of the hard drive and with advice decide on whether it needs replacing.

When I switch on the box get the following message up on the screen cannot remember all the message All I can remember is that the message is in yellow tells my about the HDMI cable.
Difficult to answer without knowing the exact error message? You could try a different HDMI cable. What make and model is the TV?

I did spot this from Astra 2 http://www.astra2sat.com/freesat/hard-drive-upgrade/ .
Are these straight replacements without need a jumper?
That article looks to me to be pretty old and I doubt you will find any of those drives new.

Martin, I think it was the Foxsat-HDR that needed the jumper.
That is my recollection as well.

Noted and thanks for all your advice. I do now understand the issues on ideally matching the drive in terms of speed to avoid possible problems. I will source a SATA 3 drive, ideally a Seagate pipline.
The drive you linked to is a SATA 3 drive (SATA3 = 6GB/s, SATA 2 = 3GB/s). I would be surprised if a SATA 3 drive requires a jumper in an HDR 1000S; other contemporary Humax boxes certainly don’t.

ParticipantI would go for a simple USB to SATA converter with a 12V supply such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-3-0-To-SATA-2-5-3-5-HDD-SSD-Hard-Drive-Disk-Converter-Adapter-Lead-Cable/233663024404?hash=item366766cd14:g:n1AAAOSwlpNfH-OH Not as elegant but cheaper and does the job.

Will try restore to default, but does this wipe the recordings I have stored?
No it won’t delete existing recordings unless you specifically ask for the hard drive to be formatted.

If you want to send me a Private Message with your email address I can send you a different loader to try (there are four possibles (including the one the box is already running)). They are applied by copying to a USB stick and rebooting the Humax. What make and model is the problematic TV?

Participantgnasher1945 – 45 mins ago »
It works if I use a different TV
There have been a small number of reports that using a different version of the loader software MIGHT help for this problem. What loader version is the Humax using (It is shown at the bottom left of the screen as the Humax starts up)?

But will the tuning allocate an LCN to BBC4 HD when it is not broadcasting?
I don’t know because I can’t receive BBC 4 HD as my local transmitter doesn’t provide the COM7 mux. I would guess the placeholder text you get on the SD version is sufficient to get a slot as it has never been missing when retuning when BBC 4 is not broadcasting.

Hi all, I have two Humax HDR-FOX T2 recorders bought 2010 & 2011
With the recorder I use the most there is a remote ‘RM-F01’ with the label in the battery compartment saying MDB1.3 because I have the two recorders I set the remote code to ‘5’.
Isn’t the RM-F01 a FOXSAT HDR remote? I don’t know how compatible the HDR-FOX T2 and the FOXSAT HDR remotes are. My HDR-FOX T2 purchased in 2010 came with an RM-F04.
