That dongle is for a Fox T2.. now my Fox doesnt have any dongle sticking out of it bit it connects to my phone hot spot.
I don’t understand how an HDR-FOX T2 can connect to a WiFi hot spot with out adongle; there is definitely no built in WiFi. Are you sure that there isn’t a small dongle in either the front or rear USB ports?
Anyhiw the box i know needs a dongle os the 1800. Would this dongle be suitable?

So what dongles can be plugged in.. how do i find that information?

Arh the 1800… dongle.. thats the issue.. i presumed it was wifi enabled but i was starting to think maybe it needed a dongle.. well thats sorted that.
Just be aware, you can’t plug in any dongle; only two chipsets are supported.

Blue light comes on on the box, but the box is unresponsive to the remote.

If the TV has more than one HDMI port, have you checked that the HDMI cable has been plugged into the port previously used and presumably being selected as the source? Someone I know had exactly that problem after having a new carpet fitted and the carpet fitters had plugged the HDMI cable into a different port.

To get the superior sound you will have to change the audio out option to surround.
I think on an HDR-FOX T2 the option is called “Multi-Channel” not “Surround”.

Could the original error message be as a result of a HDD failure as I know some system files are stored on the HDD?
No system files are stored on the hard drive as far as I know; all the operating system is in Flash RAM. I don’t see how problems with the hard drive would cause HDCP issues but I suppose it isn’t absolutely impossible. You try disconnecting the hard drive and see if the problem persists.

So I can now access the T2 from the FVP5000. But cannot access the FVP5000 from the T2. Theres nothing recorded on the FVP but i presumed id be able to access the HDD from the the T2.
You aren’t accessing the hard drive directly via DLNA; the DLNA server just provides a lit of file names. Hopefully it will all work when you have some recordings available.
Now the HDR1800.. i cannot get it to connect to hot spot at all.
What WiFi dongle are you using in the HDR-1800T?

Thanks, thats the site, I’ve obviously got my websites mixed up, been browsing so many of them. I’ll ask about the firmware source on their site.
OK the source code is available but there is still an immense amount of work for someone with a strong Linux software development background to get through to port it to a different Humax model.
I noticed the DTR-T1000 forum (https://myhumax.org/forum/forum/dtr-t1000-1) appears to be locked now, is it not possible to ask questions about it on here anymore?
Are you looking at the FAQ section (which has always been locked) rather than the actual Forum section which doesn’t appear to be locked to me?

I also noticed there is some DIY/Home grown code on this website that runs on these devices. I wondered if the code is available on somewhere like GitHub to hack around with these devices here a bit more.
I don’t think there is any DIY/Home grown code for the DTR-T1000 on this website. There is custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2 and FOXSAT-HDR over at hummy.tv but not for any other Humax models.

It will get stuck on any IPTV channel because the HDR-FOX T2 doesn’t support them; later Humax boxes do.

When I powered it up again this morning it powered up ‘on’ i.e. the front power button showed blue and the humax screen came up on the tv before going to the selected channel. None of the front buttons on the box work either.
With it powered off, unplug the aerial lead. Power it up and select a different channel. Power it down and plug the aerial lead in again.

My 5 year old HDR-2000T has developed an odd fault whereby it crashes and wont fully boot up but rather cycles through showing a Blue LED and the Humax flash screen, then immediately crashes again. Usually recovers after being powered off for a while. I’ve done an HDD check and it says it passes.
Any ideas?
You haven’t by any chance happened to add a NAS device to your network with a DLNA server? Is your Humax connected to your network?
However I think at some point soon I’ll need to replace it.
I can get the same again for £90 or upgrade to the FVP-5000T for £190 or I can opt for the Aura.
You might also consider the Manhattan T-3R.

I can switch it on/off using the remote or the front panel, but other than that all other buttons on the remote do nothing .
When you switch on, do you get anything on the TV screen?
