InactiveRecently bought a 2000T and had no problems setting it up although I am disappointed that the antenna loop through does not work with the unit on standby, but have overcome that problem by splitting the aerial feed to TV and PVR.
However, I connect to the internet wirelessly via a Humax dongle but have to input the router password every time that I connect. Is this normal? Is there a way to get the unit to remember the password? Regards.

Do you have your SSID hidden?

InactiveSorry, I’m no expert, how would I know if the SSID is hidden? Is this a setting within my PC, router or Humax? Please advise. Regards

If you are not aware then it is probably not hidden; it is a setting in the WiFi section of the router. It has been known to cause similar problems to those you are reporting on other Humax kit.

If you login a wireless connected device can you see the name of your router ?(The name it displays is called it’s SSID – http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14000/~/how-do-i-find-the-wireless-network-name-(ssid)-and-wireless-key-for-my-bt-home). If so your SSID is not hidden.
You can turn off the router transmitting it’s SSID so unless you know it’s there it won’t appear to anyone else so someone in the street with say a smart phone won’t know it’s there.

InactiveThanks for your response. When logging in wirelessly I can see the name of my router therefore the SSID is not hidden. Can you suggest anything else I might be doing wrong which requires that I have to re-enter the password if the Humax has been on standby. Have read the Humax instructions from cover to cover and have repeated set-up several times but the problem remains. Regards

InactiveThe Humax does not like spaces, hyphens and other special characters in its WiFi password. If you have these in your network password, you will need to change it to get it to work properly.

InactiveThank you for your response. My network password is alpha-numeric and has no spaces, etc. etc. The problem seems to be totally Humax related. For example, I do not have any problems re-connecting wirelessly to my laptop, tablet or Kindle and the grand-children similarly have no problems re-connecting their laptops, tablets, phones, etc. without continually having to re-enter the network password. Regards

InactiveIn the past I have had an issue with a HDR-FOX T2, which is similar to the HDR-2000T, not retaining its wireless settings. This was likely caused by a problem with the settings database which is stored in the flash memory. It was fixed by doing a factory reset. You do not need to format the hard drive (there is an option to do this with the reset). You will need to retune etc. afterwards as it will wipe your settings.

InactiveThanks for your response. I followed your instructions and went back to factory default, without reformatting the hard disk. I was able to go through the setting up procedure, ie. retuning and establishing the wi-fi connection without any difficulty and it will connect to the TV Portal repeatedly as long as you don’t go to standby. If you have gone to standby and then reactivate it will not go to TV Portal, advising that there is no internet connection. If you then go through the internet setting up procedure, ie. Menu > Settings > System > Internet Setting > Configure Wi-Fi the network name and password (encrypted) are shown (they were not previously) and clicking “APPLY” re-establishes the link.
Is this the normal mode of operation for this Humax?
It seems somewhat complicated, I do not have to manually re- connect my laptop or tablet everytime I switch them on, they connect via wi-fi automatically.
Your comments will be welcomed. Regards

InactiveIt should remember your WiFi network and password and reconnect automatically on startup. I believe there is an an issue with connecting to the portal with the HDR-2000T which might be relevant, but I am not sure what the nature of the issue is. I think it was discussed on this forum.
Edit. Have a look at this post here

InactiveThank you for your response. Had a look at the post suggested and others but cannot find anything which resolves my problem. I have been able to establish that the system works fine when ethernet connected, so I’ll invest in a couple of “through the mains” boxes and dump the Wi-Fi. Regards

InactiveIt shouldn’t behave like that though, and you have done quite a bit of troubleshooting now. As it is new, I would be inclined to take it back and get a replacement: it may have a fault.
