I have a 5000 Humax purchased late this year.I have had problems with remote.Last Sunday I changed the original batteries in the remote out of desperation.
It now works OK. Simple.Try some new batteries in yours,before all else.

Good to know my post about new batteries for the remote control was read and acted on.
Since I changed my batteries in the remote control I realise that the problems I have been having with the 5000 from New where mostly caused by the poor quality batteries supplied by Humax with the set.Just because the light comes on when pressing a button on the remote do not assume your batteries are OK.
My 5000 is now a really good bit of kit,slightly more difficult to set programme times than my old foxT2 box which had had its day.
I am now a happy Humax man again.
