Since the great John Mahoney died earlier this year I have been recording the C4 Frasier repeats every morning, but as I usually watch only one episode per day, I now have 76 episodes listed.
With the FVP4000/5000’s annoying quirk of taking the viewer to the latest recorded episode, instead of logically selecting the oldest, it takes me 23 button presses to reach the episode I want to watch. And that’s using the +/- rocker switch shortcut!
However I recently realised that by using the improved search function, which now saves previous searches, it takes only 6 presses to get to the oldest episode.
I realise that others may already be using this shortcut to access their recordings, but as I’ve not seen it mentioned on here I thought it was worth sharing.
I don’t know this model, however on others going backwards (- or up) is much faster. Does it also work on this unit?

I’m not sure what you mean, but if you are asking if it scrolls around in a loop, then no, only the EPG does this.
With all the other lists and menus you have to press the arrows on the control wheel or the CH ⋏/⋎ rocker switch in the direction you wish to go.
I hadn’t even thought of that, it works a treat! Just hit search, select from the recent search list and hey presto, the recordings tab sensibly lists them oldest first. Thanks for the share.
Humax – When are we going to see some of the sensible and simple fixes suggested by this forum rolled out? We would rather see regular small fixes than infrequent ‘super’ updates that introduce as many problems as they fix!
