InactiveI have a new router with much more prominent and visible port lights than my previous. Since the latest s/w release went in I have noticed that as soon as my HDR1000S is booted up there is constant traffic on the port to which it is connected. This traffic continues throughout the time the box is powered up. Initially it’s rapid fire then settles down to a regular slow beat so it’s clearly something more than simply populating the EPG or Showcase. When I installed the last release I answered NO to the question concerning sharing data with Humax/Freesat, so I’m curious as to what is happening.

InactiveI have observed this scenario for a long long time, though not via my router, rather the Devolo Homeplug. The LEDs on that device monitor network traffic. I often sit there watching the LED flashing like some demented demon.
If the wife is not in the room then I will give her a shout to ask her if she is using the computer. More often than not I get a sharp retort “no I am not, I’m ironing your shirts” 😳 I usually beat a hasty retreat at that point.
It is obvious that some sort of data transfer is taking place though and can only assume the HDR 1000s is the culprit.

InactiveI have a really slow internet connection, and this thing is uploading around 180 MB a day. Even when it’s off. And I don’t use any catch-up (internet too slow) and this uploading is making a mess of my shocking connection.
What on earth is it up to?

Inactive“Even when it’s off” – I assume you mean in Standby?
Not possible.
It is known that some data is downloaded but uploading, what could be of interest to freesat that would amount to the traffic you suggest. A minute by minute record of what you were you viewing and or recording would be a fraction of that volume.
I would be surprised if any interaction with freesat’s servers would be secured. That would increase their processing overhead significantly for no good reason.

Participantapotts you don’t by any chance have the remote scheduling app paired with the unit ?

InactiveSorry – standby, not off.
Graham, yes. I guess the next step it to unpair it, and see if the graph does anything significant….

The box boots every 20 minutes or so when the app is paired.

InactiveWell, unpairing has fixed it completely, with a flatline internet usage.
I think a special “world’s most inefficient sync software” prize has to go to Humax – 180 Mb / day is simply outrageous.
Thanks for the tip!
