    Hi all,

I have a set top box model humax fvp-5000t.

It was working fine then stopped connecting to any on demand services.

The network was connecting fine and the internet was showing as all being connected properly, but nothing worked – Netflix catch up etc all failing.

I was told to do a factory reset which I have tried to do, but on completing the network section of the reset successfully I then get a blank page with a title “privacy policy, terms and conditions” but I cannot get past this blank page.

I presume I’m supposed to be able to agree to some terms or something but the page is simply black. So I cannot now use the box at all as the install is failing on this page.

    What can I do?

    :)

    Thank you

    deonpt

I have tried unplugging and leaving for a while then trying the whole procedure again and it still just shows the black screen where the policies should be!

What can i do to get past the agreeing page as the box is useless at the moment?

    :(

Ive tried emailing Humax support as well, but havent heard back from them after 14hrs or so.

    thanks again

    :)

Have you tried just pressing the OK button? When the page loads it defaults to the “Done” button, so pressing OK may just work if it’s a display glitch.

It may be that the two problems are connected and that the T&C page comes from the internet.

    Suggestions:

    – Disconnect Lan and retry.

    – Try restarting Router and then PVR.

Thanks REPASSAC, but i have tried that already.

It also passes the internet and network page just before the policy page, so i hope that’s working ok.

    Its a nightmare!

I’ve read that a lot of people don’t get very far with emails to Humax- I’ve rang them a few times so you could try that and see if they’re able to help, or they do have online chat help. I hope you get the problem sorted.

Try disconecting the hdmi lead and connect to a TV scart using the yellow CVBS video out socket and a scart adaptor.

I’m having a similar problem with WLAN

    ‘Network Settings’, “Connection Status” shows:

    WLAN OK (yellow)

    Internet OK (yellow)

    bottom of screen

    STB — (yellow) — router — (yellow) — internet

    ‘General Settings’,”Network Settings”

    Privacy Policy, terms and conditions

the top of the screen only shows

PRIVACY POLICY , TERMS & CONDITIONS

the rest of the screen is blank and after a while reverts to showing the previous menu.

The STB is connected to the TV via SCART and the router* (Xyxel AMG1302-T11B) is located 2m away in the next room (lathe and plaster wall).

*The Xyxel is being used as an AP for a technicolor THG3000

I think it might be useful if you could post the other information on the network status page please – IP addresses for your router, gateway, the DNS servers (primary and secondary) etc.

Do I infer a Vodafone THG300 router branded technicolor?

I suspect a network issue similar to one I have seen before.

    @ Graham

    ‘Network Settings’, “Connection Status”

    Wireless Connection (WLAN) OK

    Internet OK

    IP Address 192.168.1.102

    Netmask 255.255.255.0

    Gateway Address 192.168.1.1

    Primary DNS Server 192.168.1.1

    Secondary DNS Server 0.0.0.0

Wired Connection (LAN) OK works with DHCP or Manual

    Internet OK

    IP Address 192.168.1.158

    Netmask 255.255.255.0

    Gateway Address 192.168.1.1

    Primary DNS Server 192.168.1.1

    Secondary DNS Server 0.0.0.0

The main router is Vodafone model THG3000 vox3.0 (made in Vietnam by Technicolor)

    firewall ON

    port mapping none

    Static NAT/DMZ Off

    DNS 8.8.8.8 (google)

    DNS2 8.8.4.4 (google)

    UPnP ON

    DHCP ON

The AP is Zyxel AMG1302-T11B (DHCP OFF) wired through main router THG3000

There is no problem when using a wired connection (either direct from THG3000 or through Zyxel AMG1302-T11B, both work OK

If you are saying that the policy page problem is solved with a wired connection then, from what you have posted here, it seems that you have the same issue with wireless connection that I have seen before and not yet solved. For some reason, many ISP supplied routers cannot handle FVP access to the internet when the DNS server is shown as your main router. I have seen this with BT and Plusnet routers (SAGEM) and with a low end Draytek 2760 (LINUX firmware – no longer supported). It seems that the DNS routers need to be the ones from your ISP – not the Gateway (Router). I suspect that the DNS cache in the router doesn’t maintain the IP address of the HUMAX portal correctly as I did discover that rebooting both the router and the FVP solved the problem for a few hours. But I have absolutely no idea why this should be so. You might try a call to HUMAX to see if they can shed any light.

It would be interesting to see whether catch up services work correctly when using a wireless connection – after a few hours or days after a reboot.

It was an issue with the router (Zyxel AMG1302-T11B):

    I created a new network

‘Network Setting’, ‘More/guest AP’, ‘Modify’ (Opens ‘More AP Edit’ box)

    Check ‘Enable Wireless LAN’

type a name into ‘Wireless Network Name(SSID):’ EG: “test”

Enter a security key into ‘Pre-Shared Key:’ EG: “password”

click ‘OK’ (the ‘More AP Edit’ box closes).

The new AP ‘test’ showed on the Humax and when selected the privacy policy screen worked.

I then went back to the router and compared the settings between the 2 Wireless networks (the ‘test’ I had setup and the existing network)

there was a difference was on the ‘MAC Authentitication’ tab which I reset to ‘disable’.

Now both the original and ‘test’ wireless networks work OK – the privacy policy screen appears when connected via either of the wireless networks.

The NO privacy screen problem can be reproduced by selecting a “BTWiFi-FON” WLAN connection.

(No security key is needed to connect but on a PC/LapTop/smartphone there is a splashscreen to complete before connection to the internet is given).

Yep. A MAC filter that does not allow the box will stop it communicating. That’s what it is for: To prevent devices with an unknown MAC address joining the network.
