The ‘best’ would obviously be the Humax branded product.

Other cheaper alternatives are available, but you have to ensure it has the RT3070 chipset.

I thought that the freetime freesat recorders (i.e. not foxsat or HB-1000S) could now also use the RT5572N chipset. Am I mistaken?

Humaxdirect state against the newer dongle that it won’t work with HB-1000S and so I think I was presuming that it would work with HDR-1000S.

Luke, I would have thought the HB and the HDR-1000S would be in the same boat.

The link for the HB-1000S on the Humax main site:

    http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/products/product.php?gid=436

    includes the following:

“With internet connection via supplied Ethernet cable (or optional Wi-Fi dongle)”

One of the two sources must be wrong.

That optional wifi dongle would be the older humax RT3070 version and not the newer dongle version with RT5572N that Humaxdirect currently sell. I don’t see a conflict concerning the HB-1000S.

The Humax main site does not mention the older Humax dongle is no longer sold by them and that you would need to source a T/P product.
