Some of you may know that BBC iPlayer has stopped working on some Samsung TV’s. It’s an 02001 error. It’s not related to the connection to the internet. Humax is now doing it along with NVidia Shield. Mobile variants of the app is working perfectly. TV varients seem to be banjaxed.

Can anyone please report that Thier BBC iPlayer is working or not?

    Thanks.

Works OK on my LG TV. I’ll try my Samsung UE43JU7000 in a bit when HWMBO has finished watching HUTH

    Yep, that works fine also.

Works fine on my HDR-1000s and LG 6300PLB. It also works on my Android Apps and Fire TV stick.

Also problems with stv player. I can watch the adverts but when it comes to the main feature, I get another error!

In have tried to update firmware however it appears to be up to date.

My only concern is that I watching this through a VPN (UK IP address) and this may be being highlighted as recycled by both BBC and ITV.

Will have to do more investigation as this worked I’m the past!

It is to do with using a proxy or vpn. My brother, who has a TV license, but spends a lot of time in Thailand, has been contacted by his VPN provider.

They will continue to ‘hide’ their customer’s ip but can no longer ‘hide’ their own ip addresses. This is due to court action by the BBC.

NVidia Shield using Express VPN on router and local app working. All services apart from My5

    Sony XF90 same as above.

Android Phone all and My5 working.

Humax box not working on any catch-up. All failing.

Yeah. It’s Lanned in using CAT6 to router using assigned IP address.

Strange isn’t it. Its hard to sort a Humax though. It’s settings are like ‘my first computer’. Wish we had more choice when it comes to Freesat.

Where is the Humax located (in the UK or elsewhere)?

It’s located in Rep of Ireland. It’s possibly a case of Mr Humax leaking location somehow but because it has Toy like settings there probably nothing that will work. Its grand. I have an Amazon Fire TV that works fine.

Very likely, but remember that the Humax box is not a FTA satellite box but a UK Freesat box. Freesat undoubtedly have an agreement with their EPG members (the broadcasters) that they will not “leak” channels outside of the UK. So why would they support a VPN connection. You might try a DNS service provider who will allocate you a UK address. You will need a special router to support that. I’m not up to speed on the details of that but I know of users in Germany employing this method where a VPN failed.

Pollensa1946 – Most routers will handle this, at least for the DHCP pool. However it can de set directly on the Humax.

Firstly disable DHCP on the router and reboot it. Then go into settings network and choose connect automatically, wait for the DHCP to time out, (quite long). Then you will be offered manual settings. Enter them then you can re-enable DHCP on the router.

It would appear that the BBC is collecting VPN address to block. I used to use a smart DNS server and would choose this as no overhead with encrypt/decrypt and most offer a short trail so that you can verify it works for you.

OK, didn’t know that. I do know that one user in Germany had to reflash his FRITZ!box router with custom f/w from the internet.
