I’ve now booted up factory reset booted up again switched to stereo setting and still no sound and intermittent picture. Is it time to give up?
That’ll be a yes then I take it!?!
I’ve had another box as a xmas present and no sound on that either, DVD works fine on same TV. the problem itself is bad enough the lack of support is disgusting.

I didn’t receive a response at all the last time. I finally got the sound working after 10 days and now the box is going in to stand by and then turning back on of its own accord every 20 seconds or so.

I meant, what was the lack of support you found disgusting, did you contact them and find them unhelpful? They seem to have been quick to acknowledge and identify this problem, and make an update available. Credit where credit’s due, etc.

InactiveI mean it takes ages for a reply and the advice doesn’t work. Acknowledging a problem is one thing dealing with it is another.

InactiveHave you actually contacted Humax or Freesat?

Yes I called and explained problem confirming I’d already done a factory reset. 2 days later I received an email with step by step instructions on how to do a factory reset.

InactiveIf it was me, I would do the second reset and then if it still didn’t help, I would ring again and report that, and seek further assistance.
Or you could contact your retailer and ask to return it. It might just be a faulty box.

InactiveThe fact that both your boxes are having problems makes the “faulty-box” theory less likely. It might be something in the setup/environment – especially as it all started with the “HDCP not valid” problem (environment-related).
You could try a little experiment, if you have an obliging mate with a satellite setup. Try both your boxes in the other location, and see if the behaviour is the same.

InactiveI would put money on the no sound problem being a HDMI hand-shaking problem. I had exactly this problem when I hooked up my media player to my new TV, perfect picture no sound. Fortunately the player provides complete control over all the HDMI output parameters and I was able to tweak these until success (and yes it cost about 1/4th what the Humax cost). So hopefully the upcoming update from Freesat will fix this.

InactiveIt may not. As I understand it, the update will just be the same fix the user has already applied by USB.
Foxmeister – what model is your TV, may I ask?

InactiveSame problem here for a couple of weeks. I have to turn the box off and on again, and then it is fine! But it is annoying. I don’t want to revert to before the update, as the instructions for downloading to a memory stick etc, and then factory reset and loosing all the series links etc seems a pain !! I have a Humax 1100 with no scart connection and a sony bravia KDL 32U4000. Many Thanks

ModeratorWelcome to our Forum

You do not have to revert ‘to before the update’ you can try the later version, still in beta, see first posts for links to download.

InactiveHi, I seem to be having a similar problem to several other on here. I get the black screen with audio and messages re no HDCP is not valid, AV Blocked but this is on two other TV’s via a video sender when turning the main TV off (e.g. when going to another room to watch one of the other TV’s). The only way I get a picture on the remote TV’s is to leave that main TV on. Any advice would be most welcomed.

Welcome to our forum. Is your box connected directly by HDMI to your TV or by an AV receiver ? If the latter what make and model of receiver ?
