InactiveInterested to know what login credentials are needed to access the Aura’s filesystem from another device on the same network ?
Our problems started around 1st-2nd September when recording a series of ITV1 programs starting in late August. The early episodes recorded and playback fine. The 2nd September episode appeared to record OK but gives the familiar black screen response on playback.
Both ITV1 and ITV3 are still not working on Aura (in the East of England).
Prospective Aura customers be warned !!

InactiveI reported some time ago on this forum that recordings of CH3 Sandy Heathg were present but could only be viewed via the media server. I think that the media server app processes the saved recording before sending them to wifi connected devices. There are a number of setting related to the quality etc to be used.
To my mind the issue is that devices connected via the FreeView can’t view either live broadcasts or recorded broadcasts from ch 3 (among others). I didn’t buy a large HD TV to watch programs on my iPhone.
It would be nice if Humax kept us up-to-date on what they are doing on this forum.

Press F on the remote and then navigate to settings (cog wheel) then Record&Share. Set File share on. Underneath that is FTP address which should display (dim, so can’t be changed):
ftp://aura:<Pin Code>@<IP address>:2323/
where the pin code defaults to 0000 unless you changed it and the IP address is the IP address of your Humax and should be displayed. On my network I’d login via FTP to 192.168.1.12, port 2323, user aura, password 0000.

InactiveIf the ITV1/3 SD programmes play using VLC on a PC they’ll probably play full screen on a TV by using the VLC app on the Aura. Navigation to the recordings is complicated though.
From the VLC Aura app, use “browsing” and navigate to
Internal HDD/Android/data/com.humaxdigital.corona.tvinput.freeview/files
Save the recordings folder as a favourite. That should add “recordings” to browser locations. Selecting recordings gives you a list of folders <Epoch Timestamp>name_of_programme ( eg. 1727249473News). Inside the folder is a .TS file which should play – unless it’s HD.

InactiveThanks EEPhil. Logic suggests that’s true, although I haven’t yet tried it. But as you say, it is a highly fiddly business and it’s not what I paid for, either. Come on, Humax – how hard can this be?!

If it’s only a problem with one transmitter I suppose that might complicate things. Not a problem with the Waltham transmitter, so far! The Aura does seem less tolerant of transmission changes than the 2000T or even the 5000T. Certainly, this isn’t what you paid for and, as it is, your Aura isn’t fit for purpose. Humax need to fix the problem ASAP.

InactiveMany thanks EEPhil for the Aura login details.
In frustration at the time it is taking to resolve the ITV1 / ITV3 problem on the Aura STB I posted the following e-mail to Humax Support last night:
Quote:I, and a large number of other Humax Aura STB users have followed your detailed instructions to try to resolve the problem of non-availability of ITV1 and ITV3 channels. So far without success. The common theme seems to be that the affected users are all based in the East of England area which is served by the Sandy Heath transmitter.
The problem appeared to start around the 1st September, as evidenced by recordings that I made before that date which can be successfully viewed.
Subsequently, neither live TV nor recordings from these channels are viewable: we just get a black screen.
Please could you inform me whether Humax technicians have yet been able to identify exactly what is causing the problem, and when we might expect a solution.
I’m a member of the myhumax.org forum and will report back to the forum if you have any further information.
After more than three weeks non-availability of ITV1 and ITV3, if the problem continues for much longer, I’m seriously considering reporting this to consumer media to alert prospective purchasers of the Aura STB that there is an unresolved problem.
This is the reply I received this morning:
Quote:Thank you for your response. This ITV channels issue is still under investigation and we are narrowing down to the affected transmitters among them, Sandy Heath. This will be resolved soon and things go back to normal. So, a bit more patience needed ….

InactiveI’ve just seen a post by a satellite technician online elsewhere.
He mentioned that several Freesat clients have called him out to repair things as they had lost ITV1 SD on their satellite dish.
He stated that this was only an issue because ITV1 are no longer broadcasting in SD to Freesat as of today.
Is this the issue that we have with the Aura I wonder.
If so why are Humax unaware?

As ITV1sd works without any issue for a rest of the country I think that is just coincidence. I do think this issue and all the other ITVbe/Com 5 issues this year have been caused by the broadcasters rather than Humax as some have cleared up before any Humax update was issued. Though Humax cannot be blamed for the cause it has exposed just how unable their Aura system is to deal with changes made by others that has no detrimental affect on other Humax products, TV’s and other makers equipment.

InactiveNew development this morning but it’s not Humax related. Only receiving BBC channels – all others are either a black screen or no signal appears on the display.
This is through aerial and Humax and to all TVs in the house.
Down detector is slowly getting an increase in outages on itv so I’m suspecting a transmitter issue – also not getting channel 4 or many others.
Anyone else on sandy heath seeing similar issues?

InactiveI saw no change at 09:30. Only 3 and 10 down as previously.

InactiveAll came back online about 40 minutes or so ago.
Interestingly the BBC London news which was being transmitted earlier was saying welcome to our friends in the East who are currently experiencing technical problems.
Still no 3 and 10 though, and HD is also offline.

InactiveHi all,
Thought I would drop Humax a note yesterday to see what’s happening with this issue.
Response below…
TMW
Hi Tim
Thank you for contacting Humax.
We have recently gathered a lot of information from different customers about the ITV issue in general.
Last week, we found out that most customers still experiencing the issue are connected to the Sandy Heath Transmitter (upon checking your postcode, it seems like you are too).
Also, I have brought up what you told me about how when you use the live streaming function using the Aura application, it has reception, internally.
For now, we are still waiting on more feedback about the information we have just gathered and brought up, so we can’t provide a realistic timescale for a fix yet.
Once we do find out more information about it, we will surely get back to you.
Again, we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience.
Best Regards,
