Moderator1. There was no update last time to ‘fix’ the problem.
2. Whatever is causing this is not of Humax making.
3. I alerted Humax Towers as soon as reports surfaced again.
4. What shabby performance, they have not caused the issue, something external to the Humax kit is causing it, and not everyone appears to be affected – since the reports resurfaced I have been monitoring 3 units, none of which have failed to respond to the remote yet.

InactiveJust out of curiosity are all these affected units used outside of the UK?
If so then I’d imagine Humax maybe limited in what they can do anyway considering Freesat only support Freesat boxes for use within the UK.

InactiveSome LCD TVs emit Infra Red from the bacl lights, these HDR 1000s and 1010s remotes seem very sensitive to this wheras the old 9300T wasn’t due to being on a different IR frequency. Turn your TV off, see if remote control works on box, you can tell by the front display. It was what was wrong with mine, there is a thread somewhere explaining how to shield the box from it using paper with a small hole in it over the IR sensor.
When the LCD TV has been on for about 30 minutes, the interference seems to stop.

A non-uk based external influence !
As a test I placed a potato and a Guinness on top of mine this evening and it’s been fine, maybe somebody from France could try something similar with a baguette, some Brie and a glass of wine !

InactiveHi again, just to clarify the point just made that all problems seem to be on boxes outside the uk, although I live in Ireland I am only 20 miles from Northern Ireland which is part of uk, and from where my box was purchased in Currys,. and when I took box to a friend in NI it gave the same problem, not surprising as the same satellite is used .

InactiveI am in the UK, and mine started playing up again last night. Last time I took it back to Currys and they changed it on their ‘no quibble’ policy. If this persists I will go and change it again. It may not be a faulty machine, but Humax can keep having it back till they sort this out.

InactiveIf the problem is to do with environmntal factors, repeatedly changing the box seems unlikely to help.

Baguettes cause way too much interference, croissant’s however have much better shielding properties 😆

InactiveChanging the box may not help, but if enough people did it then perhaps Humax would do something, or Currys would bring pressure to bear.
I am now finding as many review pages as I can to warn potential buyers of this problem.
I am not a tech wiz kid, so do not understand how the satellite signal can make my box freeze, and Humax say it is not their fault, and can do nothing about it.

ModeratorRidiculous comments 🙄
Humax are fully aware of the issue and trying to identify the cause, not an easy task when the ‘lock outs’ are infrequent – they have not washed their hands of the problem,

It’s no skin off Currys’ nose, and very little skin off the nose of Humax, if you keep changing the box. Just a little pointless from your point of view, I would have thought. However, I can understand the frustration. You could try ringing Freesat, see if they have a view.

So what exactly can Humax do, unless they can replicate the issue your having there’s nothing for them to fix.
Seems a bit OTT to hunt out review pages just to put people off from buying this Humax box.
Appologies if this has been asked before, but has anybody tried to rule out the Humax remote control by using a One For All type remote to see if that produces the same problem?

InactiveSurely the satellite signal can indeed influence how the box behaves, as, for example, it can completely replace the firmware during overnight housekeeping, without our being aware…
March 11, 2015 at 8:41 am #59452Anonymous
InactiveIf the fault was with the remote, why do the controls on the box not work either?
March 11, 2015 at 8:44 am #59453Anonymous
InactiveSurely any firmware update that we ‘are not aware of’ comes from Humax, not the satellite owner.
