The file size is 49,247KB.
Hang on a minute: when I downloaded the file, the was NOTHING on the USB stick. Now there’s a flipping Recycle folder, empty, but it wasn’t there before. The time beside it corresponds to the time I was trying the update. How did that happen?
I will reformat the pen and download the file again.
That happens when you plug the usb stick into the box and it’s not fully in sby. You should have seen the USB stick light up when you plugged it in.

InactiveThanks. I thought that the Humax instruction read ‘Plug in and switch on at the mains’.
How can the box be on standby if it’s not plugged in?

InactiveAlso, when I re-read your earlier post:
“he box may appear to be in sby when it is not. If when you plug the usb stick in the access LED lights it’s not in sby”,
I’m a bit confused. Should I see the LED on the pen light, or not?

Thanks. I thought that the Humax instruction read ‘Plug in and switch on at the mains’.
How can the box be on standby if it’s not plugged in?
It takes at least 30 seconds for the box to discharge all the stored energy in the internal power supply capacitors.
In addition the box will re-start on restoring the power to reset the clock, this could interfere with the update.
You would have to wait for the first short boot and the box to return to sby.
If you follow my post above (it works every time for me).

I’m not sure if I SHOULD be seeing the pen drive light, or not?

You shouldn’t see any light. If it lights up when the box is supposed to be in sby it is writing to the usb stick.
I have a usb lead with a built in led lighting, if I plug this in when the led cable light goes out, the box is truly in sby.

InactiveOkay, I unplugged the box, left it for 15 mins, plugged it in, switched on the power and let it go through the brief, initial startup before going into sby.
I then made a cup of tea, having reformatted correctly the USB drive and downloaded the file (still same file size).
Plugged in stick, no light, which had NOT been the case before. Mild excitement.
Then I hit the start button whilst holding down the channel selector and….
..it ran through the same brief sequence, with the same E015 showing on the display and the same warning about storage as before.
Apologies if I am testing your patience but I was confident that I’d followed your instructions and I’m normally adept at straightforward fixes such as this.

For what its worth, I’ve had the same issue with a perfectly good USB – reformatting made no difference – however , when I used another USB same brand, it worked perfectly fine.

Can you post the filesize so the size you have can be checked against what it should be? Running out of ideas, other than trying another USB stick. The cheapest smallest you can find should work.

InactiveSorry for the delay but I’d thrown in the towel last night. But I’m very happy to report that I have succeeded, as you said I would!
Thank you so much.
My position as head of the family and the rewards that go with the status have now resumed.
Have a good Christmas.
