InactiveUpdate to UKSFAA 2.00.05
Many many bugs with this update guys. Follow a Testing, Change and Release process please!
We have to use these products after you update them.
Really big issues for me are;
– Watching tv and getting reminder to watch it in HD = NEED OPTION TO SWITCH ON OR OFF
– Watching tv inbetween programs advert comes on for another program = NEED OPTION TO SWITCH ON OR OFF OR stop it continually flashing asking me if i want ‘more info’
Plus side is the EPG displays quicker,
Please, PLEASE push through EMERGENCY update to resolve these issues that make my box horrid and unfriendly!
Thanks

Interesting, when I turned off the TV, my Pioneer Amp appeared under the TV Icon in its place! I then turned off the Amp leaving just the Freetime box on, but now the TV icon no longer appeared in the YouTube app.
All that suggests you can only see one external device listed at a time in the YouTube app, which seems strange as I have other apps than can see and list all my dlna devices though even they don’t see the Freetime box,…yet
I can now see the Humax in my iPad YouTube app… hooray! (The Samsung TV is also listed as before)
How did I get this to appear? Well, I’m not 100% sure, but the main thing I did was to go into the following Settings option,…
Home > Humax > Select the bottom right icon (not in front of my box now, so can’t remember the text) which searches for connected DLNA devices. This located my NAS and allowed me to browse movies and play them through the Humax.
I’ve never used this option on the Humax before (I’ve always played my NAS movies directly to my Samsung TV).
Anyway, as soon as I’d done the above (searching for connected devices and then exited), miraculously I could now see my Humax Device ID within the YouTube App. It’s as if searching for connected devices wakes up an option on the box to make it externally visible. The streaming speed was also very good.
Now,… is it possible to rename the Device ID to something useful, like ‘Humax Freetime’ (I suspect it is not)?

The date is exactly the same on all Humax boxes from the very first single tuner pvr. The date is the date attached to the update file. Anything else would be daft. Everyone would have different dates depending on when they happened to manually update or get it from the OTA transmission which would at the very least be confusing and totally meaningless.

As a further test of the black screen problem… I have a 2nd TV hooked up to the 1000S via the SCART output to a RF Modulator then by co-ax to the 2nd room. The problem occurs on the 2nd TV also, meaning that the SCART of the 1000S output is equally affected as the HDMI.
To press home this point, over on JoinFreesat there are a number of users reporting this same black screen problem so it should not be beyond the capability of Humax to find and fix it.

Agreed.
The date is the date attached to the update file.
I think what is wrong is labelling it as “Update date”; it would be better described as “Release date” or similar. Indeed there might be an advantage in also recording the date that the update is applied so that users who notice a new problem can see if it corresponds to a new software version being installed.

I can see the sense in that
Mind you the issue has taken years and heaven knows how many updates to be identified
Anyone remember what year the single tuner Freeview pvr came out ?

InactiveWould still like to know when a release is going to be made to fix the problems caused by this release?

rdoody feels my point was missed a little. The date is real terms is irrelevant if the software update causes so many issues. I would like resources put in to fixing problems rather than a single date!
imho
Just wish update had been checked correctly before release!

Inactiverdoody – do you want to list all your bugs? I only have one that’s intermittent and easily-worked around. I’m sure the guys at HUMAX have plenty of testing and QA in place. However much testing and QA you do that is never going to guarantee that the software has no bugs.
I for one am very happy with the release.

ParticipantI rather think Humax will be tied up in solving an issue that really does affect a Humax box. Namely the inexplicable and apparently random failure to record of the new BBC-HD channels on the Freeview-HD pvrs.

InactiveWhile I welcome the update and look forward to the remote-record app, I have to say that on the whole the current batch of Humax PVRs seem to me a bunch of under-achievers.
Two DTR-T1000s died on me within 18 months. The HDR-2000T I bought after the failure of the second YouView is faulty and requires frequent resets, plus no loophrough in standby. The HB-1000S works the best of the lot, but the UI is gloomy and shadowy and not very pleasant to use. Even getting into the EPG is unnecessarily longwinded, for what reason is mysterious to me.
I wish Humax would give the freetime boxes a new UI, and get YouView and the HDR-2000T up to scratch.
Disappointing.

They can’t, the UI is Freesat/Freeviews domain. Basically they build the box, Freesat or Alan Sugars lot design the UI.
