InactiveJust tried 4OD … it’s vey responsive and streams quickly and reliably. Just shows what can be done on this box. One thing that I can’t seem to figure out … If I find a collection of multiple series (say ‘Shameless’) then there is a ‘film’ symbol that should allow you to select the series. It says ‘1’. You can highlight the symbol via navigation, but I can’t change it from ‘1’ no matter what I do … I’ve tried every single key, but nothing work. Any ideas ?

InactiveIn order to time the lag you need to press stop when the screen has completely finished drawing itself, as only then is it responsive and usable.
1. Press TV Guide on the remote;
2. Click down through the channels until you’re on the final, bottom-most one in the grid;
3. Start your timer and click down at the same time.
4. The guide begins to transition to a new page, but the channels are all blank – after a period of time they will all draw in – once the data is all there you can stop your timer, but not before.
I think this is easy to repro, and you can see the screen draw itself over a period of about 2 or 3 seconds. Enough to be noticeable. I’ll see if I can post a video later when I’m home.

I think that means it’s only got Series 1 on there. Check out Made in Chelsea. It shows more than one series is available and you can select between series 4 and 5

Why not just enter the channel number of the channel at the bottom of the screen or the one that’s at the top of the next ?
eg
top channel on my screen showing Now to 14:30 is 107 bottom is 114. Keying 115 gets the next screen in less than a second. In fact it’s so fast the data is there when I stop looking at the remote and look at the screen

ParticipantOut of interest dug out a camcorder. Set epg to display 101. started recording 1080i 25fps, tapped in 704. From the 4 in 704 appearing to full population took 27 frames. Near enough 1 second. Nowhere near 3 seconds

InactiveAnd how long to scroll down as I described, i.e. without keying in a channel number?
I’ll try channel numbers later, but seems like this shortcut is only any use if you memorise the numbers, which kind of defeats the purpose of having the guide.

No idea but to scroll down a screen you don’t have to remember channels numbers just key in the displayed channel number at the bottom of the screen or add one to it. It’s less key presses as well (just 3)

Don’t see the point in endlessly pressing the down key.

Not really – The guide tells you what is on and when. If you know what channel you watch and when it is much much faster to key in the number.
It also works from the start-up home page

InactiveI really can’t reproduce this alleged lag on my box no matter what I try. I could often beat my Pace Sky+ HD box by whizzing through the EPG but not this Humax. I do agree about the design issues though. At best it should be described as a work in progress.

InactiveIt’s almost 3 seconds for me too when I do a page down. My box takes 1m30 to boot too. I’ve been told I’m lying when I state that.

ParticipantSomethings wrong. Boot from sby on mine. 35 seconds to picture/audio. 40 seconds to home screen. Could be a hdmi handshake issue. Test by removing the hdmi lead and using a scart lead.

Exactly. What I’m reading here are work-arounds for an inherent problem. A bit like… the gearbox is rubbish but if you double-declutch then it’s just fine.

Not workarounds at all, just a different and better way of using the epg. Do I detect a degree of embarrassment that there is a better way of navigating the epg that you personally did not find ?
Following your negative postings so far there has always been a solution to your problem. No idea if my box will exhibit the delays you experience. No intention of testing it either. Why would I ? Never used the epg like that, no reason to.
What will be interesting is if you try out the suggestions and still have the problems then this will indicate local problems.
That’s down to you, suggesting that we try out techniques we never use, worse still are less efficient is plain lazy, daft, stupid (choose your adjective) on your part.
Trying to help here, faced with your attitude clearly you aren’t interested in a solution merely trying to perpetuate a pointless argument.
If you lose the attitude, try out the suggestions and if they don’t work then you will find members trying to help.
I’m out of here 😥

InactiveHere’s a vid of me opening the EPG. You can see the lag. More vids to come showing the lag when you “scroll” or “page” through the EPG.
EDIT – seems the file extension isn’t allowed by this website, let me fiddle with it.
