InactiveI originally posted this on an earlier thread and it was suggested that I repost it here. I am not sure that it’s the same problem as our dropouts are between 1 & 2seconds with a black screen on both live and recordings (always in the same place).
I have joined this forum as our Aura is displaying this blank screen problem on U+Drama on both live and recordings. We watch ITV Local news on Channel 3 as our local ITV (Westcountry) is not on HD. Channel 3 is fine with no dropouts nor have we experienced it on the SD +1 Channels! I assume that our box has been updated as it is permanently online! Thanks

InactiveHello. I have no ITV4 too. I tried recording some snooker on Friday and the recordings wouldn’t play. Then switched to live TV ITV4 on the aura and the picture froze. Tried ITV4 on my TV’s tuner it was fine so figured my aerial and connections weren’t a problem as both use the same aerial and coax. Then I came across these posts and realised it is a common problem.

InactiveI have the same issue as others but have noticed that a recording that won’t play on the Aura is actually OK as I can download the file to my laptop and play it with VLC; I can also use VLC on my (Android) TV to play the file on the Aura via a wireless connection. It looks like the Aura may have an out-of-date Codec?

I wonder if they know that, it would be such an easy fix if it is

InactiveIt would be sensible to forward your message to Humax Customer services. It could help them

I agree with the last 2 posters that Humax should know of your findings and have taken the liberty of sending them a copy of your post. Good find.

InactiveHas anyone tried using the VLC app on the aura itself to play recordings that won’t play conventionally? I am in hospital again so I am not with my aura so can’t try this myself right now .

Yeah this is what this thread is all about.
I am very sorry you are in north London.
Location and hence transmitter is very possibly relevant so no cause to be sarky.
Location is indeed very evidently an issue. This can be seen by information here but moreso elsewhere. However to add an example, for me & others only channel 6 had been affected, hence why it was mentioned in my OP. That was until a few days ago when it suddenly began affecting the other channels people in other locations have been experiencing issues with since the issue began. It’s also never been affected by advert breaks here whereas a few have said it is where they are. So thank you for sharing about your location, however it’s Humax who locational information really needs reporting to.

Yes a recording I made from Film 4, which is having the discussed issue was not playing using the Auras built in player but was playable via VLC.
Finding the recordings using VLC involves an incredibly long folder path.
Browsing>InternalHDD>Android>data>com.humaxdigital.corona.tvinput.freeview>files>recordings
When you get to the recordings folder save it as a Favourite so you don’t have to drill through the folder structure again.
Please note that VLC will not play any HD recordings made on the Aura (or at least in my case this is true).
As the issue affecting the Aura does not involve the HD channels this may not be too much of a problem for you.

InactiveIn addition, I can watch live ITV4 via VLC Player on my PC, streaming from the Aura using the View / Playlist / Universal Plug’n’Play / Live Channels option in VLC. It works fine even though ITV4 doesn’t work on the Aura. So it is clear that the Aura is receiving, processing and recording ITV4 signal fine. It just can’t play it.

InactiveIs there any way to go back with the firmware to see if it works?
