InactiveYou could have a look at Smart Bluray players, if it’s mainly the catchup and VoD you want to supplement. Check the reviews. Samsung ones will have the most apps available. I think they start around £60-70.
Or a Roku or NowTV Roku.

InactiveHi Guys, first post so here goes.
I assume the portal runs some type of modifies Android system, therefore is it not possible to add new apps yourself in some way?

What makes you think it uses a modified Android system?

InactiveHi, the apps look just like the Android versions and I can’t think why Humax would waste development resource reinventing something that already exists.
If its not Android does anyone know what it is and whether its possible to add apps that have been developed separately?

The operating system (afiak like all Humax boxes) is Linux based. The custom firmware available from Hummy.TV has a custom portal with a few extra apps but nothing to get excited about.

Could I get some comments about the TV Portal? Do you use this regularly and what other sites would you like to see or do you find it too slow…
I’ve just rediscovered some old boxes which are ‘internet’ connected and wondered if people actually use facebook, youtube, etc., on CE devices… Any comments from users with a 3view box would be interesting too…

Inactivewhwn i press tv portal on my humax box I get xzactly what you would expect, the tv portal, Wikipedia, bbc iplayer etc. now when i press tv portal on my humax box I get HTTP error 503. to me that means the humax web server is not accepting incoming connections and needs to be rebooted with iisrestart. do you disagree ?

No I agree with you but I was querying your attempts to access the portal from a PC with a web browser?

Inactivei originally was having a problem with the tv portal where it worked but the box rebooted itself so i was advised to do a factory reset which i did. now i cant get on tv portal at all. i was trying with a web browser to see if that worked and if it did then that would point to the problem being my box but it does not work on my web browser or on tv portal on my humax box which to me points to the problem being with humax, the web server has been down for 2 days now, you would think humax would notice and reboot it. i know my HDR FOX T2 is old and they no longer make it but i would expect that the newer bits of kit also use the tv portal and i am not the only one to notuce it is down.hopefully at the start of the working week tomorrow they will fix it
