InactiveDo the buttons on the front of the box work If not it can’t be just the remote at fault

InactiveThanks to Barry and everyone for sharing your experiences. I was on the verge of buying a new box when I stumbled across this forum. You gave me confidence to hold on and see if there was a fix from Humax (or Freesat), and now all seems to be well. My box hasn’t frozen since Monday, so fingers crossed…

InactiveI have only just bought my HDR 1000S and the remote has been fairly unresponsive but I think I have tracked it down to my Philips tV which seems to emit some kind of Infra Red, if I use it on my Sony TV, it seems OK.
Are any of you using Philips TVs
My other remotes don’t seem to be affected by this TV, maybe because this Infra Red Remote is on a different frequency.
I have had a Humax 9300T for years with no problems.

InactiveHello, just joined. I have a Freesat+ HD1000S. worked fine last night. but this morning, the remote partly works. Cannot change channel, the volume on screen display goes up and down but the actual volume sound doesnt change. Any other option (like pressing TV guide) instantly locks up. To change channel we have to switch off then on and then have about 5 seconds after boot up to type in a channel number. Volume buttons on box do same thing as ones one remote (ie the osd changes but the volume sound doesnt).
No idea what firmware I have as I cannot get to the options to find out.

InactiveIn between writing the last post and this one, its suddenly started working again!
Didnt touch anything, but the box suddenly changed channels with no user intervention from 106 to 101 then 112 then after that it all works fine!?!?!?

InactiveHi
I have been watching this post as my Humax box started to behave very weird since last saturday. When I press the menu button the menu flickers on and off before settling then to move up or down i press once and it flies around the options until it finally stops and not usually on the one i want, It does this and then it just locks up and nothing fixes it. not even switching off at the wall. Now yesterday, when lots of people reported the box working again. Mine worked so I felt a lot better that other people had experienced problems too. Today, my Humax is back to doing what it wants and I cant see anyone else saying theirs is playing up again so wondered if anyone had any ideas?? Please help

InactiveWell mines playng up again. We were watching a recording when without any intervention it went to main Tv Guide (but corrupt) then back to the recording (but 5 mins earlier). The recording is still playing now but the picture is very dark.
Edit: It worked for long enough for me to get the firmware version
Software UKSFAA 2.02.07
Loader UKSFAA 1.08

InactiveNothing has changed with the firmware for a little while now.
That the EPG is corrupt is not good and prompts a check of your signal from the freesat transponder.
The signal for the freesat transponder comes from a slightly different saterlite position from most channels.
Try tuning in to 11428 H 27500 in STB mode “non freesat” mode and check signal quality.

InactiveThank you for the posts. I have no idea what firmware i have. REPASSAC – was that post for me to try??

InactiveI have now had an email response from Humaxonline support who have said “There was a known issue with the freesat servers at the weekend”. The advice if you still have the problem was effectively to:
Power off the box and wait 5 minutes.
Disconnect and swap the satellite cables around.
Switch the box on and do a factory reset.
Also ” change the channel on the Humax Box to BBC 1HD for 20 minutes before trying to use the box” – couldn’t think why this was needed??
I have not seen any changes in the settings values (firmware etc etc.)

The suggestion was for big-byte.
The firmware version is in settings – system info.

I think this is suggested as some users signal for 28.5E, where the freesat transponder is located, may not be as good as 28.2E the location for all the mail channels. freesat transponder data is also slowly trickled on most other channels. The channel chosen is simply because it is a very reliable source and also, I guess, because of the bandwidth on a HD channel.

InactiveHi just to report that I switched the box off for an hour last night and switched it back on again around 10pm and it worked fine so left it on all night in standby mode and its been completely fine today.

InactiveHej, I had this problem recently, following a period of no power (thunderstorm and power outage). Nothing worked – so removed the power supply to the Humax, and re-connected. Problem solved. A bit like Windows on the computer, back to square one to get things working again.

InactiveI checked my remote by looking through my digital camera lens and when I pressed button on remote couldn’t see any light emitted. Double checked using my ‘Bose’ remote (which I use for the sound system) and could see a light on that. Came to conclusion that my Humax remote must be faulty so got a new one. Working fine with new one. Strange coincidence that I had the problem start around the same time as many of you but most said Humax ‘issue’ was resolved spontaneously.
Those still not getting system to work…perhaps try the remote check with camera.
By the way I would expect the remote control to have lasted for more than two years! I haven’t done anything that would damage it.
