I’m not sure I follow your reasoning. The startup slashscreen appears on the TV screen as well as the display. The programme channel indication is sourced from the EPG not the box software.
My reasoning is that it is not just the icons that are redundant on the 1100s, it is the whole display. Just because something appears on the TV screen/EPG doesn’t mean it will automatically appear on a Freetime box with a display, the box still needs to be correctly programmed to show what is required on the front, it doesn’t matter where it comes from EPG/Recordings, start screen etc
Obviously the latest programming just needs a little tweaking to correctly show the icons again. So the fact that Freesat and Humax passed this latest software presumably thinking the box was working correctly leads me to believe they just overlooked the tiny little icons. I wouldn’t of thought that was that surprising as you’ve admitted you can’t see them yourself.

The splash screen and what you is seen on the display at boot are the same. This software is likely to be the same on both boxes and I suspect what the user will see on their TV irrespective of box will be the same.
What is different on the new box is the absence of a display. I would put money on it being a simple mistake/oversight. The programmer will have simply forgotten the outgoing models had these icons.

Which I think is pretty much what I said at the top, so actually I’m in agreement for the most part

InactiveHi,
New to the forum, although I’ve had a Foxsat HDR for some years now, originally used whilst living in France, loved it especially after 6 months of no Uk TV. French telly is really awful! Anyway, I gave the foxsat to my daughter as we tried Sky for the first time ever. One year on and it’s goodbye Sky!
So, I see that the new 1100S is out. Trying to get one in black at the moment is hard.
So, finally onto my question for you all. Apart from the design of the box, is there any real difference from the HDR1000S apart from the addition of WIFI? I don’t need WIFI as it sits next to the router, so will I lose out at all by buying a 1000S box?
Thanks for reading guys.

InactiveThe HDR-1000S boxes are also in short supply. I just had a look. Humax Direct have only the 2T version (£399). Richer Sounds are down to “last few in selected shops”
Humax Direct have some refurbished HDR-10*0S boxes.

Not at all – except smaller unit.

InactiveThanks for the quick replies, so I don’t need to spend £30 extra for the 1100S if I’ll never need the WIFI and not bothered about the slightly smaller unit? Don’t mind paying the extra if theres something extra with it (apart from WIFI).
Thanks.

Only the front display showing the channel you are viewing, or the current recording you are watching. Also the near invisible icons in sby (magnifying glass in a darkened room recommended

.I had one from weeks before spotting them.
Also if you need a digital clock, the 1000 series has one with low power enabled.
Or of course if you require the scart output (Perhaps to record in RGB to say a DVD Recorder, the remaining composite output will be significantly inferior).

Well I’ll be blowed. You learn something new every day. I had no idea the darn thing has a digital lock and I’ve had it two years. Mind you it has always been set to low power standby. 😳

It should have said low power sby disabled.

InactiveA summary might be useful, not only for frenchbob but for others who might be wondering which to buy. Is this correct?
1000S has Scart and front display, but WiFi requires dongle
1010S has Scart and front display, and dongle-free WiFi
1100S has dongle-free WiFi but no Scart and no front display.

All three have CVBS and analogue stereo outputs on RCA phono sockets. On the 1100s it’s the only way to connect to a TV without HDMI/DVI in, other than using a HDMI to analogue converter. This connection is also handy to connect to a rf modulator.

Does the 1100s have a CAM interface?
None of the freetime boxes have a conditional interface (CI slot). Non-freesat mode is very limited so there would not be much point. You woulf have to back to the Foxsat-hdr to find one on a Humax satellite box.

InactiveI beg your pardon but my 1000S does indeed have a CI slot. It’s on the right of the box?
