InactiveI have owned an Aura since November and experienced many of the ‘issues’ reported here. I also have a 2011 FoxSAT HD recorder, still going strong. The latest updates have just installed.
The Aura App (iOS) works fine on iPAD and iPhone. Can download & or play recordings.
The Aura is very responsive and the programme guide user friendly cf the FoxSAT. Generally recordings are fine and video quality same as TV. YouTube and iPlayer apps work OK. The updates improve things but the following issues still pertain:
1. If a recording finishes whilst one is watching another recording the box switches off.
2. Some recordings fail with message ‘no power!!’- as others have found. Don’t know yet if latest revision fixes this bug.
3. Sometimes fails to power up from the remote & need to press button on unit or remove power to unit to start.
4. Fast fwd on recordings stutter badly after x2 speed. Surprising as FoxSAT is way better at this with smooth replay at x64. However using the ‘polo’ buttons to fast fwd through the adverts works a treat using the picture icons to see where you are.
5. The new ability to control TV sound from the Aura works OK but it delivers max sound level out hence there is a huge level difference when going say from Aura back to TV. (If normal TV is level 12 when switching to Aura you need to drop back to level 5). OK if you only use the Aura but not practical if you want to use other sources with your TV.
Anyone else having these issues?

Other than the recording failure lie (it never has) not seen any of them.
There is no need need to use fast forward at all. The box has seperate forward and reverse skip options actioned by the buttons left and right of OK. eg -15 sec + 120. Many ads are 4 mins long, two pushes of right is about right. For shorter ads a few back till you see the sponsor screen works. what are the polo buttons ?
I have no need to control the TV sound (it’s muted) . I have an AVR with a dolby atmos audio speaker setup so the AVR remote controls the volume. If I did use the TV audio I would use the TV remote anyway.
Since the new update never needed to power cycle the box. Always boots from the remote but from low power sby boot time is extended. But it always works within a minute or so.
Why should should a recording finishing cause issues. Whatever you are watching. You get a short message at the top of the scren confirming box is looking for the broadcaster to send the recording start code. A programme finishing just has a short message top of screen.
Gueesing you have padding set on start and end. Setting these both to auto should resolve all the above.
If try to always set recordings on the main HD channels on PSB3. It makes the chance of running out of tuners very remote because the 3 tuners can record 4 at the same time and even the 5th with a simple dodge.

InactiveThanks for the feedback
The ‘polo’ buttons are the arrow buttons surrounding the OK button in the middle of the remote.
Messages about recording start-end are fine but my box goes to a blank screen and shuts down needing to press the power on button to get back to the recording that was being viewed. This has happened a number of times. Padding is set to auto.
Failure to record has been mentioned by others here. Sometimes the recording is there despite the message that it has failed being displayed. Other times there is no recording. Will have to see if the update has fixed this behaviour.

Use an “air mouse” app on your phone.
Didn’t even know they were a thing. Worked flawlessly thank you and the Virgin TV Go app also works great too. Will be able to watch Newcastle get beat tomorrow. Dunno why I put myself through it haha.

InactiveRegarding the App (Android), the guide, schedule, and recordings need to switch to landscape mode like most other apps (although recordings is in landscape after you stop a recording in landscape mode). Trying to move forward in a recording using the slider at the bottom of the screen does not work (spinning blue circle forever). It would be useful if recordings resumed where you left off. You cannot start watching a recording until it is complete. However, for an initial release it seems to work quite well.
Regarding the box itself, does anyone know how to get it in deep standby using a Harmony universal remote?

InactiveAn update on my Aura, the latest update has resolved almost all my problems with the Aura and as many have stated it responds very fast compared to my other Humax boxes. The iOS app on my iphone shows recordings but the TV Guide is always blank just showing times dates etc but no channel details or schedule. It does show On Now detail though so I am not quite sure what the problem is, I have deleted and installed it a couple of times to make sure.

InactiveThis fixed my Schedule and TV Guide problems
I logged into my online Humax page and deleted my Aura box, then re-added.
Logged out of the app then back in.
Took a few minutes spinning on the blue circle but got there in the end.

If you press and hold the power button – don’t you get a box with a message and OK selected ? pressing enter should then work.

InactivePressing the off button on the Harmony remote switches everything off (amplifier/TV/Aura) so no scope for interaction. It would be better if there was a time setting so that the box went into deep standby overnight. Does the app work while the box is in deep standby?

InactiveUse the Harmony remote in Device mode to interact with just the Aura or what I done with my PVRs is have their ON/OFF assigned to long press of the Exit button as I prefer to not have them turned on or off during activity switching but do that manually.

Thanks. I have just tested if the app works in deep standby and it says that the box is disconnected. However, The TV Guide, Schedule and Downloads seem to be available, but On Now and Recordings are not available (grayed out). Therefore, I am not sure if I will be using deep standby.

The box has to be fully on to access those functions. So deep sby is not the issue. I watch Breakfast every morning while upstairs. So I set a series recording on BBC-1. This wakes the from deep sby. And you can then watch the programme live using the app as on now and recordings are both available. The box could do with power on power off pair of settings like the other Humax boxes.
I did try the reminder option but this lacks the series option.
If you want to wake the box at any time from other rooms a wireless Infra red repeater should work
