InactiveThanks Barry. Oh that’s a shame… I guess I will have to wait for the next public release. Is there any chance I could be given access to the hidden area on this forum? I’m really interested in reading about some of the new features.

InactiveI’ve tried to load the new firmware 3 times now. The process seems to follow the Humax guide with the spinning blue triangle presumably showing the firmware on the USB stick has been recogised and is loading ……. but I’m not asked to press the Standby button at the end of the process and when I check the new firmware version it’s still 1.00.73.
Please can I have access to the hidden thread to see how others are dealing with this? I’ll PM Barry.

ModeratorFirst you need to check your pendrive and ensure the update is the only file in root. Failed attempts can add other files to root.
If you are sure that this is the case there are 2 different ways of updating via usb, see FAQ Para 2 and note on how to update.

I did have some othe files in the root first time but then deleted all those but still no joy. I’ve just tried the other method but, once again, without success. The USB drive is detected with the usual Video / Photo / Music flash screen but when I go into Check New Software I just get the usual spinning triangle with “Searching for new software … it may take about 2-3 minutes” which we all know will continue forever.
I’ll try unplugging the LAN cable and see if that forces the USB update.

ModeratorYou should not see usb drive being detected with the usual Video / Photo / Music, it should initialise software update before that if using the power off method.

Nope …. another fail. There seems to be no way that I can get the 4000T to check for the update file on USB even though the correct file is present and the stick is FAT32 formatted.
Even though the network cable is unplugged the box simply defaults to a wifi connection and there appears to be no easy way to disable it. I’ll try turning off my wifi router but this is now getting ridiculous.

ModeratorThere should be no need to turn off router or wifi, but you will have to check pendrive files after each failure.

I’m trying to use your Method 2 which starts “Insert pen drive” and as soon as I do that it gives the flash screen. As the method does not at a later stage say “Turn box on” it must presumably be on already?
However, I’ll try inserting the pen drive with the box unplugged.

Nope, that fails also. There is only the update file on the pen drive. I unplug the box, plug in the pen drive, then re-insert power. The box starts but in standby. After a few minutes with a blank TV screen I press power on, the box starts, and the USB splash screen with Video / Photo / Music immediately appears. This then immediately adds the appropriate folders to the pen drive of course.
If I then go into “Check new software” I am stuck in the loop forever.
I will download the update file to a different pen drive and start again.

ModeratorApologises that method you will see usb detected. That method will not work for all users.
See note 1 and try that method ie disconnect power first insert pendrive, re-apply power whilst simultaneously pressing the channel down button on the unit until you see the update screen on TV.

That’s the method decribed in the Humax trial email and is the one that I tried 3 times without success (see my post from a couple of hours ago)

InactiveOK … I finally got the new firmware installed but used a slightly different method to any I’ve seen described so far. I unplugged the box, inserted the USB stick and then re-inserted the power lead whilst holding down the down button. I then waited until the pen drive stopped flashing. There didn’t seem to be anything at all on the TV screen during this process …. but once I restarted the box I seem to have the new firmware and the improved 4 x 3 recordings display.
However, select a set of series recordings and it still defaults to the latest recording, which is very disappointing.
Tried all the Samba server stuff, which I had hoped would be fixed to work with Vista and Win7, but so far I can’t see any change.

InactiveI have received and installed the new software.
How do I access the sub forum to discuss this, is there something from the email I was sent that you need to confirm I am on the trial?
Thanks
Chris
