Hi Graham and thanks for your response.

    903 ITV player works fine

    Connection type is DHCP

    Netmask: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Primary DNS : same as above

    Secondary DNS – zeroes

    MAC address: 28:32:C5:AC:88:6F

When trying to get iplayer it gives a message “something went wrong displaying the program” with ‘01100’ in the bottom right of the message box

    Other questions ?

Sorry – missed the other q’s

I can see On Demand and Showcase icons (and On Demand works apart from iplayer. I can use ITVon demand 4OD, Curzon, Youtube.)

The epg also works on BBC channels. I can go back one or more days, see the programmes etc, but when I select ‘watch now’ it launches the iplayer but then greys out and I get the ‘something went wrong…’ box again, this time with a number 2000 at the top.

This is a new one I have never seen before. Everything suggests your box is working as it should. The problem would appear to be external, perhaps a dns server issue (Out of my depth here). Have you any other way to access iplayer (your PC/smartphone/tablet for instance) ?

    Does that work ?

Yes, iplayer works fine on any computer. It’s just the box that can’t access it. Perhaps I should raise it with Humax?

Without anyone else affected I can’t see what Humax can do . In any case it will be Freesat you need to contact or more likely your isp.

Could just be an iplayer problem. If so, it would be up to the BBC to fix it, so you could try contacting them.

But it might be more effective to report it to Freesat, given that Freesat have the BBC’s ear and also have an interest in ensuring that all the OnDemand services are working properly following the recent troubles.

Thanks for the advice and confirming it’s not just a straightforward problem. I’ll get on to Freesat.

Have you tried resetting your router?

Not sure how to re-set the router, other than to say it gets switched off at the end of every day so it’s rebooted on a daily basis.

Got a new interesting question now – I set the recorder to record BBC4 from 8-9pm today then BBC1 from 9-10pm, however it has failed to change channel at the end of the first recording and is now continuing to record BBC4 whilst claiming it is recording the show on BBC1. Any ideas? I only have one satellite input.

    Why?

Wheway – You turn your router off at night but leave the HDR-1000S on?

I think the HDR-1000S may well currently only request a IP address on powerup – will play later and find out.

Assuming you are set to accurate record (Padding=Auto) then the unit will wait for a change in running status to be received for the current programme. Rarely the broadcaster forgets to send it, the unit will then think the programme has overrun and sticks with it.

With a single cable connection you have two tuner operation but the two tuners are limited in function as they can only be switched to the same polarisation (V/H) and band (Low/High) as the first. The programme must not have met this criteria or it would have switched to it.

Question: is the AR data sent separately for DTT and satellite transmissions, or once? I had recordings set for those same programmes on a Freeview PVR, and all three programmes recorded correctly.

    BBC4 8:00 – 8:30 Triffids

    BBC4 8:30 – 9:00 Triffids

    BBC1 9:00 – 10:00 Remember Me

So if AR was indeed accurate for Freeview, does that mean it was also accurate for Freesat? Or could there be a slip-up affecting only the satellite schedule? Does anyone know?

It’s still not very clear to me, but as it seems the AR data would be handled by Red Bee, logically I would think it would be the same data that would be received by both Freeview and Freesat EPGs.

It seems Red Bee have been bought by Ericsson – news to me – and the BBC has stated that the playout contract won’t be renewed when it expires in 2015. It’s all going to be brought in house, which could be good or bad from the point of view of PVR users. Red Bee will be a hard act to follow.

    Apologies for off-topic detour.

With the cable connected to one of the router yellow sockets and the Humax powered, do you see a small green or yellow LED on the network sockets at both ends of the cable?

If so, good. The next thing to try is resetting the router. you will need something like a paperclip to insert into the small hole on the back of the router. After the router has reset, put the Humax in standby and then turn it back on.

Now check the Humax’s settings for System info – Network. You want to see an ip address and other settings with values other than zero. If they are still zero you will need to try to reset the Humax – Setting – system settings – factory default. (Make a note of your recording schedule as you will need to re-setup them up, but you will not loose your recordings).

    Please post results.

I’ve got those yellow and green lights, I’ve reset the router and humax. Still nothing.

Can someone tell me how to configure the thing manually?

    Quantum,

I assume that your nothing refers to no ip address present in settings – system settings – network?

The router needs to be on when the Humax is brought out of standby to be sure.

It is just possible you have the wrong type of cable (with two pins reversed – a crossover cable) – some devices can work this out and correct for it but not all. What colour cable is it and does it have any markings?
