InactiveI am now seriously wondering if the “Connected to network – unable to connect to the internet” is a problem with BT Home Hubs.
I have had it happen with my phone and tablet. It’s quite random – the phone of tablet connects but cannot get through to the internet. I connect it again and it works OK.

InactiveI have found that if your router isn’t connected to the internet when you power up the receiver then it never connects to the internet. For example, I woke up this morning and switched on the receiver. 10 minutes later i switched on the sky internet router/modem. The only way I could get the receiver to connect wirelessly to the internet is to turn the power off and on at the socket. You have to reboot it to get it to work. You get a router connection but no internet.

InactiveSeveral points about my BT Home Hub 5 (6 months old) where the Humax has, somewhat surprisingly, always connected without any problems.
1 I leave the Home Hub on 24 x 7
2 I have an Edimax WiFi Extender which connects to the Home Hub and is also left on 24 x 7
3 When the Humax comes out of standby it connects to the Edimax Extender.
So, the Humax never actually connects to the router – only to the Extender which is alrerady connected to both router and Internet.
I do think the BT Home Hub is a bit flaky as my phone and tablet sometimes fail to get through to the internet.
Your post suggests that the Humax may also be a bit flaky …

Why would the extender be connected to the Internet?

Sorry – my loose wording. Another PC connects to the extender and it is connected to the internet.
I was trying to make the point that the Humax joins a network which is already connected to the internet.

InactiveHi
I have the same issue, connects to the lan, using dhcp or manual, does not connect to the internet.
Lan connection is ok, I can see the Humax system and browse the files.
This all occurred after the latest upgrade, where before it was working perfectly.
Does anyone know if there is an extra port required to be opened to enable access?, as this may be causing the problem.
Thanks

What make and model of router do you have?

InactiveHi
After a lot of messing about, I managed to get it to connect to the isp’s router via wifi, then when I connected it to my router, it worked. Using a range extender it did not work.
Truth will out it it still works tomorrow after a power down to standby.

InactiveI too, have this problem, every now and again. Re-inputting the router password tends to solve it.

Interesting. On the basis that users don’t go changing their wifi password on a regular basis, why does the humax seem to ‘forget’ or perhaps corrupt the password.

… Using a range extender it did not work.
My 4000T works happily with a range extender.
I notice that when I bring it out of standby, it usually reports it is not connected to the internet but it seems to do the check too soon because shortly after it is connected.

InactiveMy own experience of this type of problem is that it is inevitably due to a weak wifi signal at the device in question. I have solved it in my case by wifi access points hard-wired to the router at strategic points thru the house. The problem is easily detected by wandering around while checking the wifi signal strength on your phone.
