Barry
ModeratorI’ll connect up a 1000S again to check wifi, give me a few minutes.

ModeratorRight 1000S put back into service:
First I checked the Humax 150n dongle (ie not new one) and Edimax 7711UMn on version 2.02.07 – both working fine.
Updated to 2.02.34:
Humax dongle still working, but the Edimax is no longer recognised.
Reported to Humax Towers.

InactiveHi – having the exact same problem with our 1010S; worked fine until Tuesday night – now constant reboots; at one point last night it rebooted and said I had no recordings at all; turned it off manually and they came back; but this is SO annoying – loads of recordings have failed because of it.
Why release an update to fix something that makes matters MUCH worse? At present the box is almost unusable – if this isn’t fixed quickly, we’ll have to go back to Murdoch Corp which is the *last* thing we want to do lol!
Haven’t tried a system reset yet, as since others have said it makes no difference there seems little point!

ModeratorWelcome to our Forum

Try a factory reset, whilst one member has stated his system worked last night after reset but rebooted this morning, another appears to have had an evenings uninterrupted viewing.
Either way you have nothing to lose, except your recording schedule.

InactiveI’m not using a humax branded wireless dongle and it wasn’t installed/shown in the initial factory reset installation but skipping that part, manual reboot and reinsert of dongle when fully booted loaded the dongle fine. Try that.
I’ve had no reboots since posting this morning after format/factory reset
(my dongle is vodafone branded but supported chipset)

InactiveThanks Barry for reporting the Edimax dongle problem to Humax.I can confirm that my Edimax dongle is not recognised after the last software update.
It’s an Edimax EW-7711UAn and was installed in February 2014 on the 1000s and worked fine until the last software update. A test of the dongle on a Windows laptop in the same room as the 1000s showed that the dongle was working.
The rest of the software update seems to be working but of course there is no On Demand at the moment. A factory reset hasn’t sorted out the dongle problem.

InactiveI received this message from Humax this morning:
“Thank you for contacting Humax.
I am sorry to hear you are having trouble.
Can you switch the unit off at the mains, disconnect all cables, reconnect all cables securely and then perform a factory reset?
Please find the instructions below to reset your box which should help resolve your issue.
Following these instructions will reset some system settings including your Recording Schedule (Please replace when complete to ensure you still record favourite programmes)
Any previous recorded programmes will be saved.
Press Settings or Home on your remote.
Move to Settings > System Settings and press OK.
Move to Factory Default and press OK.
Reset System will be highlighted, press OK.
It will ask you if you are sure, highlight yes and press OK.
It will then ask for your password, default is 0000
The box will then reset itself. You will then need to go through the initial setup again.
Also can you confirm if you have the unit paired with the Freesat App?”
Then I received another email:
“Can you try unpairing the App and then power cycling the unit please?
We are currently trying to recreate the issue which is why I am asking you to perform these steps.”
I have unpaired the box and recycled as requested. I am now waiting for the next instructions.
Will keep you appraised

InactiveJust registered, and confirming my exact same problem with the Edimax EW-7711UAN.
I emailed Humax yesterday and had an email from customer service to say it has been passed to the technical department for investigation and they will be back in touch for a possible resolution.
I suggest anyone else that is suffering the same problem emails the same information. It does seem like it has broken support for the RT3070 chipset.
This is the blurb I gave them :
Since the recent Software Update 2.02.34 installed on my Humax Freesat 1000S box yesterday my Wi-Fi Dongle has not been detectable.
I have tried the dongle via my PC to check it works (which it does) and also tried factory resetting my Humax box to no avail.
The USB dongle has been working fine since around 2012 when I purchased both the box and dongle, therefore it is of some coincidence leading me to believe the latest software update has ‘broken’ driver support.
The USB dongle I have been using is the Edimax EW-7711UAN adapter which has the Ralink RT3070 chipset existingly compatible with both the 1000S and existing Foxsat boxes up until this latest firmware.
Has the latest firmware broken driver support for the Ralink RT3070 chipset?

InactiveFurther to this. Anyone with other non-working third party Wi-Fi Dongles that are no longer working I suggest you google to find the chipset and list it here. Obviously driver support for the Ralink RT3070 is broken.

Not sure that is true. I have a couple of these:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151318342704
Which have the Ralink RT3070 chipset and are working on the HDR1000S.

Interesting, if it is not specific to the chipset it must be specific something else perhaps the vendor ID or something why it is broken on Edimax EW-7711UAN?
June 18, 2015 at 2:57 pm #62139Barry
ModeratorIndeed if it was chipset then the Humax dongle would not work, and it does, for me at least anyway.
Not only the 7711UAN the 7711UMn which used to be ok has stopped working as well.

Will await a response from Humax, can only speculate currently that either erroneously or purposely Humax have stopped support for Edimax vendor ID in their driver support for the RT3070 Chipset.

Thanks.
I have just tried your useful suggestion of rebooting the box (sans dongle) and plugging in the dongle after boot. Unfortunately whilst this works for you (and maybe some other third party dongles) this method does not work with the Edimax 7711UAN, but at least I have now covered all options whilst awaiting a reply from Humax technical support.
