Still not working this morning on Freesat and FVP units.

I don’t get any error messages. Just trying to play any content says something went wrong.

Graham, I think we are all getting the “Something went wrong” message after quite a long time with the “pink spinner”. The error code 02001 is in very tiny type at the top right of the message. That error code seems to be connected with VPNs. You mentioned earlier in the thread that you thought this was a problem with Humax’s servers. Does the FVP 5000T software use a Humax server (or servers) as a proxy, and if so, why???

Afaik Humax servers add the extra capabilities associated with the freesat and FVP boxes. They presumably directly get the content from the iplayer servers.

I think this is to add the data required for services, like the backward epg (both platforms), watch from the beginning (not working on FVP units but does work on Freesat units) and viewing recommendations (Top Picks).

If you check your unit you will find no backwards epg for BBC channels but is present on other channels.

None of these are available on the devices that posters say is still working.

This problem has happened several times in the past.

Although iPlayer is not working, I still have the backward EPG on all channels, including BBC. 5000T.

I think the intermittent missing backward EPG is a separate issue. It seems to be associated with the DNS settings on the box.

I have not lost it since changing the settings for DHCP Server (don’t know what that means, but that is what it is called) on my TP Link/Archer router to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. The box (on WiFi) picked it up and have had no problems since.

When I checked yesterday I had no backwards epg data. Now present on both boxes but of course you can’t play back any bbc content.

I know iPlayer has had problems in the past so how long did it take BBC/Humax to sort the problem on those occasions? My iPlayer is still down since 29th September? I know problems can take differing times to sort out but I was just after a guide. It’s 2 1/2 days now.

A quick search for iplayer not working. Found the following posts

    July 21st 2017, Jan 14th 2018, July 10th 2013 and October 1st 2020

All of them not during lockdown. So imagine that’s not going to help very much.

IPlayer problems are a nightmare because Humax blame iPlayer and iPlayer blame Humax, so it takes ages sometimes, for a resolution.

    From the iPlayer help page

“Why are programmes failing to load on my Humax box?

    BBC iPlayer | Under investigation

    *** Wednesday 30 September ***

We’re aware that some people are unable to play programmes through the BBC iPlayer app on their Humax devices. People have reported seeing a ‘Something went wrong loading this programme’ error message.

We are looking into this and we’ll update this page with any further information.”

Mine’s been down for about 3 days, and apparently running the latest software version.

Came across the same problem but put it down to the programme I was trying to watch a few days ago.

    Thank goodness for the forum.

Hopefully it won’t be too long before the issue gets fixed.

I’ve also had this problem for 3 days with FVP-5000T. Have emailed Humax UK support with details. Waiting for a response. Everything else working ok.

I used to love the BBC but they are getting increasingly exasperating. It’s impossible to report this issue so they will have no idea of how many people are affected. As far as I can tell we are at the mercy of some *Expletive deleted* at the BBC who has *Expletive deleted* this up and will get promoted for his/her “outstanding” upgrade which has caused this problem. They will say that no-one has logged the issue because they have made it impossible to do so.

Intrigued – why do you think it’s the BBC ?

You need to take a deep breath and consider the evidence. Disguised abusive posts are the last things we need here. Admin note, dealt with

Try using the forum search to find the same issue over several years with the latest in October this year.

The BBC have merely acknowledged a known issue with Humax boxes and are looking into it. That’s a massive leap to saying they are to blame. It a good thing I guess they are talking to Humax to find the problem.

Personally the evidence in this case points to a Humax issue.

On the previous occasions this has happened, it was a problem with the Humax iplayer servers.

    Consider.

Iplayer continues to work absolutely fine on myriads of other non Humax kit.

Smart phones and tablets, smart TV’s, PCs, Amazon firesticks and no doubt NOW TV sticks.

Do you not have any other devices that can use BBC iplayer ?

I presume you are using a computer or another device with a web browser to post here.

Try this url in whatever device you used to post from.
