Interesting, with the Panasonic recorders expected to arrive in the next week or so things are definitely warming up.
Are you sure that is the situation with the Panasonic Freeview Play recorders? I can’t find any reference to the date apart from that it will be latter than the Panasonic TVs having Freeview Play activated.

InactiveSurely they had the software update on the 24th September? The Panasonic website lists the Freeview Play recorders and retailers are listing them for pre-order. When asked they quote as early as 1st October (Amazon being optimistic).
As an aside Amazon list the FVP-4000T as Currently Unavailable – don’t know if they will be in stock. (I take that to mean they have no date)

InactiveIf the BBC news story Amazon bars the sale of Apple and Google TV devices is taken to its logical conclusion then unless the FVP-4000T can stream Amazon Prime Video it won’t be stocked at all. 🙄

ParticipantBarry, somebody over at Digital Spy is asking for confirmation that the FVP-4000T can display and record IP channels such as Vintage TV; can you confirm whether this is possible?
October 5, 2015 at 1:10 pm #59916Barry
ModeratorMartin, So do some don’t….
Vintage TV works along with a few others, CCTV, Racing UK, Sonlife, Motors TV, Dating, JSTV, kykNET, ABN TV, Passion, Showcase TV.
VuTV – Not supported overlay
TV Player, Vision TV, Huda TV – May not work as intended overlay, and do not appear to work.
Planet Knowledge – may not work as intended overlay, but appears to work ok

InactiveWell I picked one up today from my local Hughes and I can see why they have decided not to officially launch the product yet. It doesn’t seem ready.
From the moment you start using it, it certainly seems a bit slow. Not as responsive as my Humax Fox HDR T2.
The only scroll back on demand channels that work are BBC, nothing at all from ITV, 4 or 5 although iPlayer, All 4, ITV Player and 5od all appear in the separate ‘apps’ section of the box.
The screen is occasionally flicking on and off, can’t work out why but sometimes it cuts out for a second when changing channel or navigating the menus.
You get proper channel logos in the guide (downloaded from the web) and thumbnail photos on the now and next part, which is the default view when pressing the guide button. You then need to press right to see a ‘normal’ view of the guide.
The only thing that is annoying is that there is no dedicated ‘media’ or ‘recordings’ button, you have to go to ‘home’ and then scroll to the ‘recordings’ section to see what you’ve recorded.
Here’s plenty of photos showing the setup and various menus etc…

If anyone has any questions, please ask.
I won’t be swapping out my current recorder yet, I am assuming a firmware update is imminent and will check again after that.

InactiveGood evening, terryh. The DropBox link doesn’t work for me (gives a “404”). Is it me, or the link, at fault?

InactiveLuke has reported at Hummy.tv (quote from digitalspy) that Hughes have withdrawn the FVP-4000T from sale. Apparently the model has not been officially released so they have had to stop selling them. I can’t now find any units for sale online.
Barry, do you know when the official launch is?

Thank-you, Martin.
Looks like a low-contrast UI optimised for large HD displays and not one that my mother would be able to get on with. Oh well…

Afraid not, the tweet I mentioned in #44 appears to have been removed as well.
