InactiveI just hope the software update due next Monday is still on track. We really need this update to cure the rebooting problem. This is not only a pain to owners who are losing recordings, but a massive embarrassment for Humax. You’d have thought with their years of experience this problem would not happen.

InactiveHi everyone,
I bought this box 2 weeks ago and stupidly whilst setting it up from new allowed it to update to the latest firmware. I’ve never experienced a stable machine. I’m pretty disgusted – what sort of testing was done on the new software? Seems very poor.

InactiveWell, I did have a relatively stable box for about three weeks.
But it has now rebooted 3 times in the last 4 days – and destroyed 3 recordings.
I’m getting rather fed up about this now – Humax really should have made the pre-Remote Recording firmware available when it was clear there was a problem.

InactiveDidn’t someone on here say there was a sw update due out yesterday, 31st Oct?

InactiveThey found it didn’t fix the random reboots – there is an update coming next week that has “minor issues resolved”.
It’s unacceptable that these boxes have been left in a “not fit for purpose” state for 2 months, and apparently won’t even be fixed next week.
They should have rolled back to the last firmware prior to the introduction of remote recording. Stability is more important than features.

InactiveIn an email I received today, Humax have said “an update or further information should be available in a week or two”.

David.
So the frustration of owning this box just continues.

InactiveThe (first) email I received said:
“The update that will be available during the 2nd week of November will have some minor issues resolved along with some improvements”
which I am taking to mean that it will not resolve the reboots – as I would not class reboots that are frequently causing failed recordings to be a minor issue.
I’ve told them – and imo, everyone should tell them, that it is unacceptable that they have left a broken firmware out there for over two months with no resolution, when they could have repackaged the last pre-Remote Recording firmware and released that. They are claiming that it might have introduced more problems, but worst case scenario we would just need to do a factory reset – which we’ve already done in an attempt to clear up the problems of this firmware.
This is my third Humax PVR – two FreeSats, one FreeView – whilst each one has some improvements (Freetime, 4 simultaneous recordings, etc), each one has been slower and less reliable than the previous. Features are important, but Humax really needs to have more focus on the fundamentals, and get better at backing out broken releases rather than sitting on them and hoping to fix them – otherwise I’ll be thinking twice before buying a Humax again.

We would like to thank you for your patience and remind you that we are always keen to hear your experiences of our products, because without you we wouldn’t be here.
We will send you another email closer to the time reminding you to update your device, but until then, if you need any assistance on our products or you simply just want advice, you can contact us via;

It would be great if this update included a few improvements, like the ability to sort recordings alphabetically in a list view instead of those useless thumbnails, and a shortcut to info would be nice, but at the very least I do hope that this sorts out the random reboots.

InactiveThe reboots are getting so bad that I’m thinking of going back to Virgin or getting Sky Q.

Is this upcoming update the one which was mentioned elsewhere that doesn’t even fix the reboots?

InactiveIn an email I have just received Humax have said the update “will cure the random rebooting”. No mention of other bugfixes but that was what I specifically asked about.
David.

InactiveAre we to assume that even after the 21st Nov the 4000T will still not be FIT FOR PURPOSE! This is disgusting, especially because of the constant agro we are all experiencing re the random rebooting. We all ought to be compensated some way, shouldn’t we! Humax should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves, but I doubt it. The public at large need to be aware of the problems so they don’t make the mistake of purchasing the 4000T. Have already advised the manager at our local Currys/PC World.
