To be fair Barry, I think of you more as trusted independent intermediary between Humax and us users. Trusted by all parties.

    Thanks for the information Barry.

Based on what you say, is it reasonable to describe your position as an agent of Humax, authorised to distribute their software?

I have just checked my system for version information as follows:

    Software version: UKSFAC 3.00.96

    Loader version: UKSFAC 1.00

    System ID: 809C.7D11

    Update date: 13 AUG 2018

    YouTube:

    Version web_20210330_00_RC00

    Device: TV,Freesat/1.0/hb1000s, Opera(12.50.9.80), Linux mips

    Language: en-GB

    Geo: GB

    Client: TVHTML5, 7 20210330.00.00

Note, no new system software from Humax since 13/08/2018.

Note also, that the YouTube app version looks to be less than 2 days old.

And so my current questions are:

    1. If I follow your procedure, precisely what software will be updated?

    2. Will the version data be updated?

    3. If Google are releasing the YouTube app so frequently, won’t this then overwrite the fix?

    4. Question 3 assumes that the problem is a Google problem, but I suppose the app might be calling a generic search ui contained in the Humax system software.

    5. Has the software been fully regression tested?

    6. Is there a rollback procedure in the event of further issues?

    Thanks again

    Stuart

    Thanks for the information Barry.

    This is getting tiresome.

No, I’ll repeat I am a consumer, nothing more nothing less.

    Thanks Barry.

Sorry if it seems tiresome. That’s not my intention at all.

You indicated in an earlier post that the software belongs to Humax and that they have authorised you to distribute it on their behalf. If this is the case, then surely it makes you more than a mere consumer, unless I’m missing something?

I’m treating this as a production issue, so just need to understand what’s happening before I proceed. I don’t think that’s unreasonable but others may well disagree.

    All the best

Barry has been a beta tester for far longer than this Forum has existed; he has contacts at Humax but to my knowledge that is the limit of his involvement.

I have just checked my system for version information as follows:

Note, no new system software from Humax since 13/08/2018.

and your point is what precisely?

Note also, that the YouTube app version looks to be less than 2 days old.

And so my current questions are:

All player apps seem to be under fairly continuous development so nothing unusual.

    1. If I follow your procedure, precisely what software will be updated?

The main firmware for the box.

    2. Will the version data be updated?

    Yes.

    3. If Google are releasing the YouTube app so frequently, won’t this then overwrite the fix?

    No.

    4. Question 3 assumes that the problem is a Google problem, but I suppose the app might be calling a generic search ui contained in the Humax system software.

I think the problem is that it is calling a function in the browser built into the Humax firmware which doesn’t function in the way the app requires.

    5. Has the software been fully regression tested?

I doubt any PVR software is fully regression tested. Plenty of people here have installed it without any major problems.

    6. Is there a rollback procedure in the event of further issues?

Download the previous version of the software from the Humax website now and install it if required. Humax software updates are, as far as I know, always complete (rather than patches) so you can go backwards and forwards as you wish.

Or just install the update and stop being paranoid that Barry is going to be surreptitiously harvesting all your personal data to commit identity theft. ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„

Hi all, just set up my Humax and have the same YouTube search issues described in this thread – could I please be sent the updated software that fixes this?

    It’s a Humax HB-1100S

    Thanks!

    Hi there

Same issues as reported many times previously i was able to sort the

YouTube search problems by resetting the app but that no longer works

So i want to ask having an HDR-1100S box is there a fix available that

does not require me to have a USB stick kicking around.??

As well i dont have one handy at the moment nor did it say on the box

that one would ever be required to fix the TV apps that came with the

    Freesat box when bought.

    Regards

Ok so i guess there is no fix for this from humax!! you’d think it would be

easy enough to either send it via the sat signal or since the box is internet

    connected that way at least.

Oh well i’ll make sure to buy nothing that says humax on it going forward.

as i said in another thread unlike today the ole days were better you only needed a TV + VCR they always worked for ya and everything that was worth watching was on the five free channels.

Total waste of my time joining up here!!!

Why was it a total waste of time? You have an answer to your issue even if it is not the answer you were hoping for. This forum has helped me with a few issues I have had with Humax devices and the information I have found here I has been very useful, I am sure you will find the same if you hang around long enough to find out. You also might be able to help others as many members here do …
