I’ve just bought the Aura box. It is excellent but one thing is annoying me.
I have paired the remote control with my LG tv. I can turn the TV on and off using the remote and click the little av button to choose the av input. All fine.
The only problem I really have is when using the volume buttons, it still only changes the volume on the Freeview box, not the TV. I had an older freeview box that had a TV button which when clicked would switch the remote control to operate the tv.
There doesn’t seem to be a way of doing it on the remote control unless I am missing it.
Is there any way to switch the new remote control between TV and the box. I always use the volume control to control the volume of the tv, not the freeview box.
I prefer the way that the volume control on the RM-C01 currently works. I have a volume control on my TV remote control, this allows me to adjust the volume of my TV.

InactiveYes but it would be handy to be able to control the volume on the TV from one control which is pretty much how all previous humax boxes work

Well push came to shove.
Got fed up of the occasional intermittent video/audio freeze and flicker. So box is being swapped out next week, hopefully before Christmas Day. Then we see if the problem resumes…
Swap never happened. CS now blaming tier 4 for not delivering. Excuse me, Post Office, Amazon and a few others are delivering across tier boundaries. Now most of us are in tier 4, should no longer be a problem, should it?

Only when viewing SD content. I take it you are going back to a pvr not Freeview-HD capable. Like say a 8000T.
Freeview-HD on HD channels uses a newer AAC audio codec that means you cannot control the volume at source. It only works if you only use SD channels, which kind of makes it a waste of time buying a HD capable unit.
You can set a newer box to recode aac to the same audio used on SD channels which is the best option if you do not have the capability to use 5.1 surround sound.
This will make it work just like the older boxes.
Just change the audio out option on a Aura from surround to stereo.

InactiveHi I am new to the Forum but been using Humax boxes since they started.
Just received an Aura today and totally baffled. Cannot got audio on anything and no live freeview at all. Can just get visuals on the internet feed.
Says it found all the expected channels and the TV which is using a pass through signal from from the Aura is working fine.
Tried resets and all sorts.
Perhaps I have a broken PVR?

You do have a hdmi cable from the box hdmi out to the TV and have selected the socket on the TV as the source that it should be displaying. ? The rf loop through is only there so you can use tv’s own internal tuners. First try viewing a SD channel. Turn up the box volume using the volume control on the Aura remote.

InactiveThanks for quick reply. Yes I used the supplied HDMI cable from the Aura to the HDMI 1 input on my Sony TV. I definitely have the right connection I am getting the TV guide from the Aura plus an on line visual signal.
I have been trying to get BBC News SD on 231. Nothing live just internet playback and still no audio.
Edit I am getting no terrestial TV at all.
Edit 2 all volumes at max

InactiveI have lost LIVE pictures as of yesterday the 23rd, it seems to be recording ok but no LIVE channels at all. Looks like another reset of the whole system, thankfully I have an old Freesat box that I can programme over Christmas. The most annoying thing is that different problems appear each time. Lets hope the Update in January sorts things out.

What do you get if you press the F button – scroll to the cog settings icon – press OK – OK on channel and broadcast – OK on signal test. You will only see tuner ? What Strength and quality do you get and post the tuner Mux details at the top of the screen ? Also post which transmitter you use.
Additionally also from Channel and Broadcasting. Scroll down to Digital Audio. If set to surround change it to stereo.

Inactive100% signal and Quality. I got Live fine first thing this morning after a full reset, now lost Live again. Luckily I dont have to rely on the Aura box.

InactiveAdditionally the old BT/Humax YouView box gives perfect live picture and that is after the Aura in the coaxial feed chain. Unfortunately the YouView box has lost its settings page so I cant retune it etc for channel changes. The Aura Live TV button shows images of each channel but if you click on those the screen is just blank. Yes it will stream the channels but that dosnt help recording.

100% is too high a signal level. The Aura tuners are sensitive and easily overloaded. Round about 60% works for most. Mine runs at about 40% from a loft periodic from Lark Stoke ( a Sutton coldfield relay)
Do you have an amplifier in the system fitted pre-dso when digital used much lower power than today ?
If so remove it. If not you will need a variable attenuator.

I don’t understand. My last PVR was a Humax Youview PVR box (not BT or TalkTalk). It had HD channels. I was able to switch the remote control between TV and PVR box so when I pressed the TV button on the remote control the volume controls turned up and down the volume on the TV. The Aura remote doesn’t have a TV button, just tv standby and AV select which means that the volume buttons only turn up and down the volume on the Aura box. I would prefer to leave the Aura box at 100% volume and have the volumn buttons affect the volume on my TV instead.

@Flutty This sounds precisely the same problem I have plus I have no sound on internet content so basically I have a £250 brick.
What is really frustrating though is that for a few minutes earlier today it did all work perfectly but it was a false dawn.

Why aren’t you sending it back then? Have you contacted Humax?
