Intrigued why some turn off the router at night.
I can’t do this anyway. I frequently watch content using headphones on my smartphone after retiring. My grandson is known to do similar on his smart TV.
It’s surely sensible to carry out housekeeping duties during the periods that anyone with a limited broadband service will perform at it’s best.
Apart from a tiny amount of electricity saving, why ?
I’ve always wondered this too as routers are designed to be left turned on 24/7.
Optimum broadband speed is ‘learned’ by the equipment at the exchange, and from installation usually takes about 10 days to settle to the maximum speed with the minimum data loss.
If your router is switched off for long periods (overnight for example) the exchange equipmemt will simply register massive data loss and reduce your speed accordingly!

InactiveI will try leaving the router on tonight and check to see if the box will let me into the On Demand in the morning.

InactiveI’ve just joined to say my 1000S has started doing the same thing this evening. I tried to go back on the programme guide and it says I need to be connected at more than 2mbps to access the feature but when I go into settings I am connected at 54mbps but I connect automatically and it asks for my router password and does the connection then when I try to go back again I get the warning box back up. It’s frustrating not to have the function as it has been working for several months with no problems using the same wifi dongle and connection.

This may be the same issue i described before, if your box has lost internet connection for a while reboot it from the power (turn off and then on) with internet working.
Should be ok, if not just leave it on for a while and then try showcase and then on demand.

It hasn’t lost internet connection it says it is still connected at 54mbps in settings. Tried all the above a couple of times and tried rebooting the router, replugging the dongle etc. Not tried a factory reset yet but might try that tomorrow. The router is always on and a couple of computers are connected by ethernet and phones, tablet on wifi all work fine.

InactiveI just tried the showcase function and it went back to watch Detectorists on BBC and Job Lot on ITV2 both from last week just won’t go back from the EPG. I wanted to watch Countdown on 4OD
Try again tomorrow or watch on computer, not the end of the world.

InactiveTried power off, wait, power on and exit during start up and then waiting for 5 mins but still unable to access On demand or Showcase from the menus. Get the usual “Showcase is not currently available” message.
On demand works when accessed off of EPG menu but not from home menu.
Have recycled bb router as well and repeated the Humax restart steps but has made no difference.
Anyone have any suggestions to try?
Thanks,
G

Try a factory reset and once you have gone through setup leave stb alone for 5 mins on full screen tv. Remember you will loose scheduled recordings but actual recordings will stay.

You forgot reselecting ‘connect automatically’ in network settings.
This appears to be the solution freesat are now suggesting.

InactiveSo far I have:-
Powered off, left for 30 seconds and re-powered on.
Pressed exit during startup sequence.
Accessed network connection and box tells me it is connected via ethernet and the ip address and that Iplayer is available.
Now tried factory default and reset box,
Go through the setup wizard
It tells me I am connected.
Completed wizard and gone to a TV channel.
Gone to settings / network connection and it tells me connected with ethernet and same IP address as before and that Iplayer is available.
Leave for 5 mins access On demand or showcase from the home menu and same error.
Go to EPG and access on demand and iplayer works.
Am I missing a step? I don’t use STB mode if that is affecting it?

InactiveAlthough various users have reported return of function following various sequences of steps, no sequence seems to work for all. Personally I doubt if a reliable remedy can be found until the problems are correctly diagnosed.

…
You did reselect connect automatically? Just looking at the settings is insufficient.
