HDMI resolution function seems to be main issue for me.
1 – Set it at auto it stays full 4K on all channels?
2 – Switch to different settings like 720p or 1080p and sometimes sound or picture goes off and a quick switch off and on with remote and it’s back?
I have asked about auto resolution on a separate thread and it has been confirmed that it does work correctly? How do you display that 4K is always being shown?

Depends on your TV.

ParticipantIf you have a 4K Tv it will always show a 4K picture. It has to do this because every pixel on the the screen has to have data. No TV provides this information, there is no need to do so.
What you need is a way to see what signal is being input by HDMI. Whatever it is it will get scaled to 2160P.
Obviously the poorer the video quality being sent to the TV the worse the scaled image will look.
In auto the TV tells the Aura it can do 2160p so it sends 2160p whatever the source is.
If set to manual you can choose what the box outputs. eg tuned to bbc1- HD it will have a source of 1080p25 or 10801 50 fields/second depending on the data within the GOP that the decoder is decoding. Freeview-HD allows mixed gops so can constantly switch between progressive and interlaced.
If the aura is set to output 4K50 it will scale either to to 2160p50.

InactiveAny more news on whether the Android Netflix or NowTV app. issues will be sorted? I’m holding-off flexing the plastic until they’re sorted, although I am beginning to wonder if they ever will.

My aura has a latest date of 29th October for firmware. Strange why they are different. Have you tried a manual update? Maybe there are boxes out there with different firmware versions? Perhaps the latest version is more stable?

InactiveMy Aura has now started to Re-boot during watching programmes on Catch-Up, it will just go black, then LED goes out and Humax and Android logos appear, I hope this isnt yet another bug . . . . as many others I still havent had any replies to my emails to Humax, I get most of the tips from here how to work around problems. I am keeping my Humax YouView box clinging on to life as long as I can as I cant see to trust the Aura yet. Its a shame as the Aura is very fast and picture quality seems very good.

Your TV is only a display. It cannot change automatically. All it can do is tell a source device what it can handle. This takes place during the HDMI HDCP handshake.
Whatever signal it gets from a remote device it will scale it up to 2160P if the source is not already 2160p.
This is no automatic, it’s the only way to get a full screen image.

There is an update due this week. One of the fixes is signal issues. The app is also due next week.
