InactiveI did spot that a while back – yes I think so – sounds exactly what I want when my new house is complete. What I am not clear about is what the TV needs to support (DLNA?) and what codecs it will need to understand.

InactiveI want to use HDR-1000S with a dual-satellite setup. I understand that it supports DiSeqC, so two 2-way switches should make it possible. Would I be able to use freesat and non-freesat channels simultaneously, let’s say watch a freesat channel and record non-freesat channel at the same time? Or would I have to switch the box between freesat and non-freesat modes destroying my recording schedules and God knows what else?
Any info?

InactiveIs the “Wi-Fi dongle connectivity (sold separately by HUMAX)” that is mentioned in the spec sheet the same as the one currently being sold for the FOX T2?

Yes it is.

InactiveThis is one of the many killer features I’m looking forward to most when I get my new box at launch…. Wonder will it play.mkv video files. I’d guess DVD iso’s will not be supported?
“Content sharing via home network – From launch you will be able to use the HDR-1000S as a client device (so you will be able to access content from a shared device in your home (PC, Laptop, NAS, HDR-FOX T2). We plan to include the server functionality at a later date.”

InactiveThe new Humax HDR-1000s details a USB port for easy sharing of media.
Does anyone know if you will be able to playback .avi, .mkv, .mp4 video files hosted on a usb stick plugged into the HDR?

InactiveHi,
We spend a few months each year in France, and I normally load up the hard disk on my Humax pvr with programmes to watch whilst we are there. We can get Freesat OK there, but if we miss any programmes and need to access the iplayer etc, then we have to do it through a computer using a proxy server (to make the iplayer think we are in the UK). This is tedious and often doesn’t work.
Am I correct in saying that the internet catch-up (the backwards epg) on the HDR1000S will only work in the UK, and would not solve my French problem?

ParticipantBarry can you clarify a point made by a poster in another place, Does the HDR-1000s do 5.1 over hdmi ?

InactiveShiralco, I cannot imagine that this model would be any difference to the Foxsat as the ip check is done by the catch up service, not the PVR. AFAIK a VPN is the only way to get, for example, the IPlayer outside of the UK

Thanks for this – I suspected as much. I shall probably still get a HDR-1000s for home use, but it would have been an added bonus if it had worked abroad. So much for being in the EU!
