Dino, REPASSAC many thanks for your patience and help, Dino, I had tried switching Samba on & off before but no chge, however just typed \192.168.1.2 and now I can see all files on the humax, only after REPASSAC’s suggestion re firewall, just found my zonealarm log which has been blocking every outgoing attempt to connect to the humax!

    Ping now successful!

Sorry, completely forgot about the firewall!

I have now been able to map the network drive and setup a network place.

Now all I need is software to convert mkv to ts OR rip DVD to ts, any ideas?

Thanks for your help, I’m almost there!

    Great stuff.

Following this guide might be a start. It worked for me. I had some 20+ year old family film taken on old mag tape analogue camcorder. About 5 years ago, I digitised it by playing back to a DVD recorder and saving on DVD.

I’ve now got the old footage converted into ts and playable on the HDR.

Otherwise, I use ‘Xmedia Recode’. Works for me.

Thanks Dino, will give it a try, just moved ts, hmt and nts file to the humax but although visible in the network place, obviously doesn’t show up for me to see using the humax device – media menu haha, should have known it wouldn’t be that easy!

If you just move files, the HDR won’t recognise them as the side files don’t relate to the correct location.

    Two ways round this.

    1) Use the FTP built in to AV2HDR. This automatically creates the side files to suit the destination location and the HDR can see them.

    2) If you move the files with C&P or FTP (not using AV2HDR), use the web interface to locate the files and then do a pseudo-rename.

i.e. click as if to rename the file, but don’t bother to change anything, just click update. This will correct the side file contents to match the location and they should appear on the HDR on screen media browser.

Yep thanks Dino, just realised while looking at nother thread on this forum, am in middle of seeing if AV2HDR will re mux the files onto the HDR, will come back re any issues, thanks again!

Is this the normal end of and ftp using AV2HDR to the humax box?

    FTP: TimeOut

Used a file converter to convert mkv to m2ts but the converter dumped the audio stream so file plays fine on humax now but no audio stream!

Am trying now using xmedia recode

Anything about FTP in your zonealarm log ?

It seems that my AV2HDR ftp process and remuxing is stripping out the audio stream? Having dropped an m2ts file into it with audio and video, the process ends including the ftp to the box but when playing on the box there is no audio, choosing audio via the remote shows “No Audio Track”.

    FTP settings as follows:

    IP Address: 192.168.1.2

    User Name: HumaxFTP

    Password: 0000

    Timeout(msec): 10000

    Port Range – Minimum: 0

    Maximum: 0

Auto FTP file transfer to HDR box is ticked

HDR destination folder in AV2HDR i usually select video via the HDD button.

I always get a timeout error at the end of the ftp

    Which setting is wrong?

Dino, there is nothing in the zonealarm logs for this ftp

    mamos22,

I was joking about the firewall.

I had various problems with either missing or broken up sound on my first 4 or 5 goes, but eventually stumbled on a combination that worked for me.

By trial and error I ended up with a three step process:-

    1) Use the DVD Decrypter to create the vob file from the DVD as per the link above.

    2) Use Xmedia Recoder software (selecting the preset ‘Humax’ profile) to create a ts file. There’s only a profile for the iCord, but it seemed to work.

    3) Use AV2HDR with FTP to remux the resultant file onto the HDR.

If I missed step 2 or used different preset for the Xmedia, then the final sound was bad or missing. Not sure if I could miss out step 1, but once I’d done that I kept using the same source as I knew it had the sound on it, just tried variation of step 2.

You’ll gather, this is not in my area of competence, but I got something that worked for me and also ended up with a version of the film that plays on my Walkman.

ok Dino, completely lost on me as you see when I’m in a forum!

well, I’ll give it a try a try seeing as I’m this close to getting it working but I was hoping there would be an easy quick fix but just my luck eh?

cheers REPASSAC will also give that a try, so I’m assuming there is no software out there that might rip a movie straight to a ts file that AV2HDR might accept?

    Cheers

    Thanks Dino, it worked!

File played back fine, but it took 2hrs using Xmedia Recoder for a 1.5hr movie, is that about right?

Anyhow at the moment it is the only workable option I have so will continue until I can find something quicker, thanks again!
