The eagle eyed amongst you might have spotted something ‘weird’ with the updates as listed on the DTG website.

Currently updates have to end at midnight, and then re commence at 10am next day, this is due to a problem being experienced by another manufacturer.

Obviously the only recourse for HD/HDR T2 owners is manually updating, either using the OTA when broadcast or via USB.

That would depend, I suspect on how long the place you buy from has had it in stock.

I will check with them when I buy Barry.

What time frame am I looking at to get this with the updated software? :-)

Update has only been available for just over a Month, so not many in the retail chain will currently have it I suspect. However further OTA’s are planned.

You can also download the firmware and update it using a USB stick.

But it’s always broadcast on the HD Mux. So only half of the country (roughly) will get over the air updates for the Humax HD boxes, and the other half of the country will mostly be using whatever the box came supplied with (apart from the tiny fraction that update by USB).

Why don’t Humax ever update HD boxes on the SD Engineering Channel?

PS. Don’t say because people only buy HD boxes in an HD area. People are quite aware of what is coming on Freeview and I know several people that bought an HDR Fox T2 in order to get a box with an HDMI output, knowing that it would work with HD when their area gets DSO. They saw this as better value than buying an old model like the 9300 now.

    Hi,

I’ve just registered on this forum, but have been reading it since buying the box last November…

We receive signals from Emley Moor so my box picked up the software update to version 1.02.20 OTA.. Which is good, I previously have updated it via a USB drive withiut incident…

However, has anyone noticed that while new software has done a long way to balancing the soud volume between HD and everything else, something else has appeared. On powering the box from standby, there can be a 10-20 second delay AFTER the picture has appeared before the sound appears?

I apologise if there is another thread running on this issue, please direct me to it.

To answer some of the other issues raised in this thread, the internet connection worked both before and after the upgrade, and BBC iPlayer works very well on even an average broadband connection.

Overall, I’m impressed very with the box.

Welcome to the Forum Yorkshire_Brian :-)

The sound/picture issue was not something I had noticed so just tested on my 2 units, if anything the sound appears a nano second before the picture – this with units connected to Tv’s via HDMI.

    Hi all,

I have downloaded version 1.02.20 to a USB stick to install on my HDR-FOX T2 but cannot find any information on how to install from my USB stick?

I inserted the stick but it only showed importing meada?

I then went to Installation-Software update but could find nothing there.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Mick.

    Thanks again Barry,

All went ok, but it would not read the first memory stick I used but did the next one.

We get HD transmission in March I think, so after that updates should be ok over the air hopfully ❗

    Mick. :-)

    Thanks Barry,

After your reply to my post I’ve done more investigation into the delayed sound problem and solved it…

T2 is connected to Toshiba XV50 TV via HDMI1, I also have a Panasonic DVD Recorder connected to HDMI2.

Spent a while looking through the settings in the TV for the AV connections, discovered a setting for HDMI audio, with the options auto, digital and analogue. Set to auto by default, changed it to digital, problem solved.

While I was looking round I turned off the REGZA-LINK, none of the other kit is Toshiba anyway so nothing lost there.

Because the T2 worked out of the box I never had need to look for and change any of the TV settings.

Solution not anything to do with the T2 really, but may save someone else time with a similar issue.

    Keep up the good work…

    Regards,

    Brian

PS Time we got rid of the “Beta” tag in TV Portal?
