Hi
To be honest I’ve never looked, once I’ve watched something I normally
erase it.
Only talking about playing back the first 2 or 3 seconds. If the broken icons don’t bother you you can generally safely ignore them. If they are truly broken at least you will know they are and possibly watch using catch up.

InactiveHi again.
I’ve done a ‘Factory Reset’ and the guide is now functioning as it should. The ‘On Demand’ button is working as well.
Problem now is, do I do updates when they become available, or just live with what I’ve got?
Thanks to those who assisted me.

InactiveI ignore the broken recording too, it worried me to start with but everything I have asked the box to record, has done.
The guys are right in that when watched the thumbnail will update.
Currently have two such programmes in the list and one with no channel name or logo (other problem) the rest with truncated channel name.
Also never had a problem with EPG populating but then often it has recorded something before I’ve switched it on.

You won’t have any choice. When a new update is transmitted OTA, your box will update all by itself. Not everyone has a box connected to the internet.

In what way ? See thread title.

InactiveThe problem was that after installing this update, my machine lost the ‘On Demand’ and backward EPG. Had to do a factory reset, so I won’t be installing again!

InactiveOK – so I downloaded the update file, re-named it as fvp-4000t_upgrade, burned it to a usb stick and tried to update my FVP4000T. The new firmware was recognized and the device updated successfully (screengrab attached). So the 5000T is just a 4000T ?

Well done. Have to say I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing now that Humax no longer seem to support the 4000T with updates.
What improvments does the update give on the 4000T ? Any negatives ?

InactiveLooks like the 4000T now behaves and looks like the 5000T – new menu interface, quicker tv schedule. Haven’t really had a chance to look in depth as yet but everything seems to work OK. No negatives as yet (fingers crossed it stays that way!).

Moderator1. Humax have not stated that 4000T support has ended.
2. Would not recommend anyone else trying the 5000T software on a 4000T until I have checked this out with Humax Towers.
Notwithstanding peterobb post – welcome to our Forum btw

In theory it should not be impossible as the system id’s are different.

I wonder how this would handle a rollback to 4000t firmware. Thanks for experimenting though as I’ve been stopping myself from doing the same.
Edit: Looking at the picture the bootloader hasn’t updated but is still the 4000t’s UKTFAE1.05 not the 5000’s UKTFAE1.06 (according to the 5000t Humax Support page).

I think you are quite right to add a note of caution but the reality is that Humax have not issued a software update for the 4000T for some 10 months so it is a reasonable conclusion now that software support for the 4000 has ended – I would however welcome a positive statement from Humax to the contrary if that is not the case and if so some indication as to when the next 4000T update is scheduled ?
Have to say I have downloaded a copy of the latest 5000T upgrade just in case Humax do anything to block it being used for the 4000T.

InactiveI downloaded it a while ago as I have been very tempted to do this as well, especially as the early internal photo showed a FVP-4000 sticker on it.
I think once I know it can be downgraded back to the FVP-4000, just in case there are any issues, I will give it ago.
