Nope – just tried this but unfortunately the problem remains with the infoframe turned off..
It does sound ever so like the PLEX issue outlined above but stopping the video and exiting the NOW TV app doesn’t resolve it. A force close of the app is still needed…
Hopefully Humax will do something in the firmware that fully kills all closed apps before too long.
Not something ive come across but then i very rarely use the NOW TV app and when i do its more likely to be the one on my TV then the Aura box

InactiveOk since original post the NOW TV apk is no longer available so if you are after it or the Netflix apk then post here and someone may be able to pass them on.
Does that older apk still work since Now TV rebranded to Now and updated all their apps?

Still working for me but just not updated to new Logo.
Is there a newer APK?

InactiveMy Sony Bravia TV has a newer version and from what I can tell it was that version that was being used.

InactiveI’m keen to try sideloading the Netflix app and have obtained the APK file which is now on a USB drive plugged into my Aura.
I’ve installed Xplore File Manager in order to run the APK file, however I cannot find the USB drive within that to navigate to the APK. All the Aura internal drives and folders etc, but no USB. What am I missing please?
I’ve tried using both USB sockets; using a different USB drive (which has an LED which illuminates as expected when I plug it in) and have also tried a different file manager app; all with the same non-result.
Any ideas please?

What file system is the USB drive using?

Ah. FAT32. But now, NFTS, and the USB drive has miraculously appeared, thanks!
However nothing’s ever that simple is it, and when I try to run the file Netflix.HUMAXDIGITAL.FVP4KGTR.apk through X-Plore I am rewarded with “There was a problem with parsing the package”. Same problem with the NOW TV apk, as well.
I’m way out of my comfort zone here I’m afraid – no clue where to go from here! Help please?
(The two apks were kindly sent to me by a user on this forum about a month ago, if that makes any difference?)

“There was a problem with parsing the package”.
Am pleased to say that I’ve been able to solve this problem and all is now working well… I thought I’d just follow up on this thread for the benefit of anybody else experiencing the same issue.
Turns out the problem was a permissions issue… under “Settings” > “Apps” > “Permissions” it’s necessary to enable your chosen file manager to do its thing.
Maybe should have been obvious, I suppose, but that error message seems a very poor one to me for such a basic issue. Why not “you don’t have the necessary permissions to do this”, or something? Or is that just me being used to Microsoft and Apple software?!

InactiveWhat version of Netflix are you running please? Is the 5.1 consistent across all films?

We’ve been using this for a few days and it works well. (Mainly because my daughters wanted to watch the Friends Reunion on Skyone)
Like others have reported, if you play another inside the Now app, then exit, it causes problems with the Aura box. I have tried pressing STOP when watching the Now stream, and then using the back button until it asks if I want to leave the App, thinking this is the “nice” way to leave the app, but unfortunately it still seems to leave things running in background. When ever you do afterwards, seems to work for 30 seconds and then stops. Only way to resolve is to reboot the Aura box.
Fingers crossed that Humax can do something on their end to solve this or better still we get an approved Aura Now application.

InactiveThe sideloaded Netflix app now streams 5.1 audio on all videos since the Aura was recently updated with more passthrough codecs. However the picture is still very soft.
I compared its output to the official APK running on my nVidia shield, and the test pattern reports only running at 960×540, or qHD as it’s also known.
Considering I’m on a 1080 display will be why the PQ is naff due to the upscaling.

Anyone with a proper 1080 Netflix APK?

After more tinkering and research it seems my ESN wasn’t correct, even though the app loaded successfully. Therefore Netflix wasn’t doing the DRM check and not putting out 1080. Corrected the ESN, re-compiled the APK, and everything is 1080 finally.
