InactiveOooh! you have three extra fancy options that mine doesn’t have i.e. 4:3 Full, Sidecut Just and Sidecut Zoom.
Any idea what those extra three actually do?
I will check what Just does with All Creatures at 17:00. With mine it is Auto that makes the 4:3 fill the screen.
One might have thought Humax would have provided options that don’t entail having to delve into the menu each time there’s a 4:3 broadcast (for those of us who don’t appreciate the black bars).

Not really got a clue, but have discovered they only appear when viewing an HDMI external input. So your TV may also have them. They do very strange things to a 1080i signal though

The manual is no help at all.

InactiveQuote:Side cut mode for High Definition (1080p, 1080i, 720p)If the High definition image has the bars on the both side of the screen, side cut it to enlarge the image to 16:9.
And the various methods used to enlarge.

Doesn’t sound attractive.
Though I suppose it would be a workaround for the “4:3 locked into 16:9” situation.

Thanks James – doubt they will ever be used other than for playing about.

You’re right again Graham, I do have the extra options with the HDMI input.
I have tried H1 and H2 too. H2 provides more stretch. I have found H1, Overscan set to on and 16.9 ratio to work best for me. That way Robert Hardy appears to have put nowt but a couple of extra pounds on
