InactiveHaving had the CEC-less HDMI lead for a while I would say this removes most of the issues. We still have the odd reoccurrence of a failure of the Humax to come on out of standby, but this is down to once every few weeks rather than most of the time!

We have had the CEC-less cable in for nearly a week now and all is good. No issues coming back on at all. I also like the fact I can leave the box paused, even in apps, then turn off the TV, Turn the TV back on, and it is exactly how I left it (useful when there is no screensaver on the box).
A word of advice for anyone ordering the cable, it is VERY short (25cm) and should really have a female HDMI socket at one end or be supplied with a coupler. That said, it isn’t prohibitively expensive, allows me to leave CEC enabled and has ended all complaints about the box from Mrs. K.
Ideally Humax should offer these cables for free to those affected.
I did look at the Lindy HDMI CEC Blocker, but there seem to have been a batch of these supplied with all their pins connected and did not feel like risking it.

I have a six-year old Panasonic plasma and the failure to wake from standby is causing issues for me too, particularly as we need to have CEC enabled for our Kodi box’s HDMI CEC adapter.
Presumably this might resolve any CEC related woes if connected between the HDR-1100s and TV:

Grateful for any thoughts on this

InactiveI have just purchased an 1100s and found the same problem with a 4 year old Sony.
It has taken the shine off what was a good product. Looks like it will be going back to Argos.

Disable BRAVIA » Sync on the TV

InactiveHi thanks for the prompt response. I have already been into settings on the TV and cannot find anything like that to disable. The only thing i found was something along the lines of pairing the HDMI cable with the connected device. Once done it showed “tuner”. After that it worked ok immediately, so now leaving it for an hour or so to see it it still works ok

InactiveNow found the sync menu and disabled it (i think) and it has unfortunately not made any difference

InactiveA reboot of both the Humax and TV may be necessary after you change the setting.

InactiveI will give that a ago as well
thanks

InactiveRebooted the unit and TV and no change to the situation.
I have now added a cec less hdmi adapter to the hdmi cable and it is the same, power button just switches the unit off totally or back into standby (red).
I sent an email to Humax Support explaining the issue and that it was being discussed on Humax forums. It took them two days to even bother to respond and when they did they asked me what I had done to resolve the issue!
This is a problem Humax should be sorting out as a priority but don’t seem that bothered.

ParticipantThis is a very long shot. If you repeatedly press 0 (zero) on the remote control does it wake up the unit ?

InactiveThought I’d update my experiences in connection with this issue.
I never got around to returning my HDR-1100 even though it continued to have the same problem of not waking up from standby, aside from procrastination part of the reason for not returning it was that I found a work around that suits my setup/use of the equipment.
When not watching TV I don’t leave my Panasonic TX-P42G20B plasma in standby, I generally turn it off via the switch at the side. I found that if I bring the HDR-1100 out of standby first (using the remote) and allow it to complete its initiation sequence (front light goes solid blue) before I switch the TV on then I never experience the stalling issue with the HDR-1100.
This approach might be of limited value to others but it might be useful information to someone who understands the ‘handshaking’ procedures between TVs and the HDR-1100.

InactiveMy 1100s was doing the same thing Using CECless cables and connected through an AV receiver, so I can’t see how my Samsung TV would “handshake” the 1100s (or vice versa) as the TV was fed by the AV receiver and had Anynet+ turned off. AND it happened with two different 1100s.
My advice, send it back and get the 4000T. Never had a problem with it and I can record up to 4 programs at the same time.

You have to be joking right? Send back the 1100s which is a really good machine for the bug ridden 4000T. That IMO is a really bad piece of advice. 😯
You may not believe this but it is most unlikely that there is anything wrong with the Freesat machines. The issue 99% of the time is with the TVs HDMI handshaking capabilities.

Thanks for the suggestion, just looked at the Humax website and the 4000T seems to be a Freeview device and I need a Freesat device (signal via aerial is particularly poor in my location).
I can live with my work-around for the problem and besides this issue I like the HDR-1100S

InactiveI will try the “0” option later -(thanks) as my wife is currently watching the TV. At present the only way to wake it up is to unplug it from the mains and that is not a viable work around. Once woken it is good for a short while before forgetting the connection. I have removed the CEC less adapter.
I will be interested in what Humax say when the get around to responding to my reply.

Funnily enough we would occasionally have this issue with our old Panasonic PX60 Plasma and our Sky+ HD box. We found the way to cure it was to toggle the AV inputs, this always restored viewing.
I mentioned this to our neighbour who like us has the 1000s – his is linked to a Sony KDL-32V4000. He has told us it works every time and thanked us as he was on the point of taking the box back.
Worth a try maybe?
