Surely if you run the file through a recoder you’re fundamentally changing the file though?

    I can’t vouch for this calculator, but a 1800 second file at 25fps / 720×576 / 2Mbps bitrate comes out at 450Mb, and a 1800 second file at 50fps / 720×576 / 2Mbps also comes out at 450Mb. Which makes sense if every “second” has 2Mbit content.

You are not changing the content in the example I posted you are simply reducing the framerate.

View both I doubt you will notice any difference.

I originally started this thread because of my disappointment with the quality of downloaded files when watching, on even a small screen Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Tab 7+ 5G.

The Aura update, which allowed the modificaction of the bitrate, has vastly improved the video quality, if the setting is increased above the default 2, and even at the expense of longer transcoding times and larger files, is very acceptable.

Incidentally the Aura allows bitrate adjustment below the 2 to 5 range it offers but the picture quality is rotten. It will not allow setting the bitrate above 5 though.

The definition is now superb on my two small screen devices. I am a very happy bunny.
