Just tried accessing ITV, Ch4, My5 on FVP-5000T. Get as far as login screen for ITV and Ch4 after a good wait, but no further and does not like to ‘return’ or exit either. My5 – nothing, just blank screen.

    BBC iPlayer works fine.

Will be sending an email to Humax in the morning, not impressed.

I have only recently bought this box and have encountered a number of issues. Having contacted Humax support a number of times, all they seem to send me is ‘cut and paste’ of standard spiel, normally instructions on how to ‘reset’ it back to factory settings.

I have re tuned using the default. No change to the quality of ITV Channel 4 etc.

So have you tried the manual tune procedure?

Not yet. How will re tuning change the abysmal performance of the apps ITV Hub and All4?

It won’t but you also said

    Quote:
I have experienced very poor picture / sound quality on ITV and Channel 4.

But it might help with that.

Or are you using ITV/CH4 (Live TV) interchangeably with ITV hub and All4 (Catchup)

Your choice; it is likely to fix the specific problem you mentioned.

It won’t and as this is a problem affecting all FVP owners there is very little you can do other than hassle Humax about it.

Well something seems to be happening! ITV and Channel 4 have stopped fragmenting and apart from the occasional freeze for a second or two is watchable again.

It may be my imagination but the catch ups also seem a little less slow.

I’m using the fvp4000t and have all the same problems mentioned. But recently YouTube is hanging on the login screen too. Seems like Humax build shitty machines and have bad tech teams to hash up all the problems they run in to. I’ve messaged Humax support. I’ll probably get the same crap response like everyone else on here. If anyone has had any luck with a fix other than throwing the box in the bin then share with us please.

For me things have improved quite a lot recently. ITV Hub now works OK although slower than iPlayer and All Four is now working but slower again than ITV Hub. In both cases the players were very, very slow to load the first time; I wonder if they are doing a silent software update when the player is first used after a software update for that player becomes available.

    Hwllo there,

Bought a new FVR 5000T and apps either wouldn’t load or just froze, only exceptions were iplayer and Netflix. Emailed and phoned Humax. Did all the usual reboot and update download. Humax says it’s the fault of the app providers!

Sent box back to Currys in the hope there was a fault. Even bought Rockspace wifi booster. No change.

    Any thoughts please?

I have a 5000T and you are correct, a majority of the players (except iPlayer) either do not work, are so slow you just give up or crash the box.

This is a constant theme of many posts on this forum and no amount of complaining to Humax seems to move them to resolving the issues. Instead of owning their own product failings they just blame external forces.

I maybe completely wrong but I believe the product could now be legacy, there have been no updates of fixes for 14 months. There could be a 6000T in the wings that will solve all our issues and a rollback of an updated software bundle like they did for the 4000T a few months after the 5000T was released.

Depending what you are looking for also consider the Manhattan T3-R which by all accounts is much faster but does not have Netflix, triple tuner or a 2TB drive option, however, it does look to be supported with regular updates and improved functionality and they also respond to queries very quickly.

Humax should not be marketing and selling a product which has serious known functionality defects, if push came to shove they are probably in breach of some trading laws so they should get a grip and sort things out.

Unfortunately for most of us on this forum they have already had our money and for us to vote with out feet has little consequence. If potential new customers go elsewhere then that is maybe what will focus some minds.

Will Humax and My5 ever sort out the fact you cannot view My5 through the PVR, problems been going on for months now.

    Ask Humax and My5/C5.

See my thoughts here: FVR-5000T Apps Don’t Work

Enough said I think, Keep complaining to the Humax customer support black hole or try My5 who’s app works with no problem on every other device I’ve tried it on.

After reading the latest posts above, I deceided to do a power off/on cycle of my 5000T. Was surprised to get players itvhub, all4 and even My5 back working. I did have to sign in to itvhub afresh, but no hardship. Hope this is the new normal for players on Humax.
