Don’t know if my issue is related to the tinkering that Freesat did last night but all my logos have disappeared today. I can still access On Demand but have no logos so have to skip across the blank boxes to see in the info at top of screen which player I’m on. Also going backwards to catchup in the EPG is working. So it just seems that my icons/logos have disappeared from all the menus/EPG. The positive from that is that the channel names on the EPG are actually easier to read on my SD TV lol

So I have the same issue as you then. If you had clicked on the HERE in the post above yours you would have found we have the same problems

Sorry I missed that bit. I’ve now added a note to your linked post.

Perhaps freesat have now finished tinkering.

    “Update 30 September

What software version you are running – you can find this by going to: Home -> Settings -> System information -> General info -> Software version”

Yes I think Freesat are on to something here, it may well have something to do with the recent software update. 🙄

It also could be the introduction of a new version of showcase (or both). One thing we know is that those with very old boxes don’t have the issue, despite having the latest firmware.

That’s what Freesat and Humax are attempting to find out.

Well no you don’t know that, in fact you know that’s not the case because my box is old and has the problem with the catchup and showcase, and that has been posted on this thread.

Do you still have the problem today? Any changes?

Your post was not in this thread but is here.

Your problem is significant different from the other posts in that they cannot enter either on-demand or showcase but can get IPlayer via channel 901.

I had to reconnect to internet on first boot today. That brought up Showcase with no thumbnails other than the recommended one. Left box on and have been out for a while. On return Showcase fully popoulated and box is functioning normally.

My box changes from day to day (perhaps even hour to hour) sometimes On Demand and Catchup both work fine and sometimes niether do, and then other times one works and not the other. At the moment they are both working but earlier today they weren’t.

Another case of strange behaviour just happened ther when I checked to see if they were working, which I have noticed a few times. The home page contents don’t update as I scroll through the options. So when I press the home button it enters the home page on TV Guide and when I scroll up to On Demand the content stays at TV Guide but greyed out and I have to press OK to get the ON Demand content showing.

Since I have typed that I have tried again it al works as expected. At this moment everything is working fine with my box (12:52 on Sunday 05/10/2014) but that’s not to say it’ll all be ok tomorrow.

This problem does seem to be all about the failure to populate Showcase. If the Freesat servers succeed in loading the current Showcase information, then On Demand gets populated and Bob is your interactive uncle. But if Showcase fails to populate, the box interprets that as a “not connected” error and gives up on both Showcase and On Demand.

Why it seems to manifest in new boxes remains a mystery but since it doesn’t afflict all new boxes it might well be related to user setup or prior use.

    That’s my current theory.

I have an older box and this is exactly the same as I’m experiencing too, it’s just totally random.

That theory fits with my experience posted here…

    Pollensa1946

…on my 2 year old box. So not confined to new boxes. This is related to the recent s/w update.

Does not explain why most users have no problems with on-demand and showcase.

What needs explaining (IMO) is not why most boxes don’t have a problem, but why a minority do

As I said, I think this could be due to differences of setup or usage. Merely speculating though.

You are somewhat unusual in that you power up your unit with the network off. Do you make sure that the Humax is fully booted before you turn the network on?

I have the impression that the boot time is a little longer than before. (until remote is fully functional and you can dismiss the home screen and screen filled.)

Yes. The incidents I refer to were all at least an hour after booting up the box.
