I thought, as a discontinued model, it could be had for a lot less than that (say £120 or so) and many users consider it better than what it was replaced with.
Could this be a case of supply and demand? If you read these and other forums, it seems quite obvious which terrestrial PVR to buy (IMHO). After the recent batch of HDR Fox T-2 appearing on the Maplin site and selling out VERY quickly, perhaps other suppliers have noticed this and ramped up their prices.
Just a thought.

Why Humax have told you they cannot offer support on the product is beyond me at the moment, especially as it is available through retail outlets. I will check next week on this.
Any news on this?

Apparently BT provide the support, I find this strange to be honest for retail customers who have no other connection with BT.

Thanks for the confimation. As I understand it, the BT-badged boxes receive BT upgrades, even if bought retail and connected to a different network. Maybe that’s why BT provide the support. This weird situation is what’s put me off buying a BT-badged DTR-T2***
Now I’m hoping this new, echt Humax box may turn out to be a decent PVR, with added catchup. If so I may go for it.

Looks like its already out:
But this review says it doesn’t have as good Catch Up services so I assume, for me, Fox T2 plus Roku 3 might still be best option :

That’s not the new YouView box, it’s the Humax HDR-2000T, which is Freeview.

Can only comment on YouView box as I do not have Roku.
On YV the players are:
BBCiplayer
itvplayer
4OD
Demand5
NowTV
Milkshake (channel 5 kiddies)
UKTV (content from Really, Dave, and Yesterday)
Sky Store (movie rental)
S4C

InactiveOne significant difference between YouView and Roku is the NowTV service. The YouView implementation of NowTV does not include the Entertainment pass, which gives access to catchup and live streaming of a number of Sky channels including Sky Atlantic and Sky Arts1.
However, Sky’s NowTV box, which is a cut-down Roku LT, does have the full NowTV service and is very cheap, at £9.99, so a YouView box plus the NowTV box gives you a pretty good range of catchup. But doesn’t include NetFlix, YouTube, or the Amazon streaming service (can’t recall the current name)

InactiveAlso Roku (including the Sky cutdown Roku) has the BBC News and BBC Sport apps, which YouView does not.
