ParticipantRight – this might at first sight seem an odd thing to do.
Firstly make a note of your recording schedule as you will have to re-enter it. Power off and remove the connection to tuner 2 in.
Now carry out a freesat tune using the postcode of your choice – basically use one that will give you the ITV regions you want to watch.
The box should say one cable connected, however the box has a auto enabled link from tuner 1 to tuner 2 which I hope is still working. This allows both tuners to work using only a single cable.
You may want to consider a single tuner pvr ready box to use the other cable.
This will give you some restrictions on 2nd channel recording and 3rd channel viewing (basically the same as you have now due to tuner 2 not having any lnb control signal capability). There is one big difference because the box knows what recording combinations are possible it will not let you make 2nd recording reservations that are not possible.
You can find more info here.
https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/what-can-i-record-and-watch-using-1-or-2-cables
Note the G2 boxes are a bit cleverer than the old Foxsat when in single cable mode (eg offering time shifting for any viewable channel)
Note intelligent use of the alternate polarisation BBC regions can often make a specific 2nd channel recordable by selecting a region with matching polarisation. The Excel auto version will work this out automatically.
If you try this I will devise a few checks to make sure the box is fully working.

InactiveThanks Graham… appreciated.
Do you think that the lightning strike nearby has fried a bit of tuner 2?
I will do as you suggest, but is the freesat tune done by a factory reset? I can’t find any menu that allows me to do a retune with a postcode except when doing a factory reset…

ParticipantOnly available when not recording or within 15 mins of accurate recording start.
Settings – right 3 times to more – OK channel Search. Reset connection mode during Channel Search is a feature of the latest software update. Before that Factory Reset or Secret Menu was only way to change connection mode.
The tuner appears to work OK just lacking DC power out and 1kHz tone switching which is why I hope single cable mode will work 100%.
This may help to understand how a universal lnb works.

InactiveSingle cable mode is a neat idea Graham.

Steve:
A HB-1100S would make great second unit to supplement the other unit. At a reasonable price as well.

If it works

Humax direct have the HB-1000S refurbished with 12 months warranty at £69.00.
No idea if they will ship to France.

InactiveThanks guys, you’ve both been extremely helpful and I’m very happy that we now have a box that we can use to a large extent.
I’ve done as Graham suggested and at the moment am recording 104 – Channel 4, the Grand Prix.
As the recording was about to start a conflict message came up..so we scrolled through channels and some were ‘scrambled or unavailable’….a lot are there though…so….
Am I correct in thinking that as a planned recording is about to start that will take precedent over the channel we happen to be watching if it is on a different polarisation? If both on same polarisation we would just carry on with no conflict?
I’ll have a think about utilising the other feed…I guess another single PVR used just to record about everything we want might be a way to go, the 1100 used to view live and record as well…food for thought and thanks for the heads up.

Yes if you are watching a channel that conflicts with the next recording you will get the message warning you that the box needs to change channel to make the recording. You should not get this warning at all if the current channel can be viewed during the recording. This also happens with two good tuners and two feeds, often as a result of a short over-run of an existing recording overlapping the start of the second.
A HB-1000/1100S would give you more capability than you had with the fully working 1100S. Namely recording 3 at once and extending channel choice for 3rd viewing.
It’s looking good
though a tad worried about your conflict, without knowing which channel you were watching and which was about to record can’t say if it should have worked. Do you have a PC running Microsoft OFfice (Excel to be precise) ?
A couple of tests to make sure it’s working as it should.
Test single cable working recording from two different transponders
tap 952 to watch BBC 1 E Mids (10788 V) Tap record button
tap 102 to watch BBC2 HD (10847 V) Tap record button
tap 201 to watch BBC Parliament, after 20 sec or so check live pause works
Repeat for the following
703 BBC Radio 3
704 BBC Radio 4 FM
707 BBC 6Music
708 BBC Radio 4 Ex
710 BBC Radio 4 LW
711 BBC World Sv
712 BBC R Scotland
713 BBC RnGaidheal
714 BBC R Wales
715 BBC R Cymru
716 BBC R Ulster
717 BBCRadioFoyle

964 BBC One Wales
967 BBC One Yk&Li
971 BBC Two Wales
600 CBBC HD
972 BBC One HD
978 BBC One NI HD
Stop all recording.
Following records two from one transponder (only requires tuner 1), this means all channels in same band and same polarisation can be viewed, hence the long list.
tap 102 to watch BBC 2 HD (10847 V) start a recording06
tap 106 to watch BBC 1 HD (10847 V) start a recording
The following should be viewable (note for 111 it will require you have one of the listed regions at 111) Note you may want to consider changing postcode to make one of these available
For 103 it requires you have a vertical polarised ITV 1 as listed.
121 Channel 4 + 1
122 E4
123 E4 + 1
124 More4
975 Channel 4 + 1

InactiveGraham…genius…all tests worked as you suggested…2 simultaneous recordings and viewing a 3rd channel from 1 feed…..would not have believed that was possible…
I don’t have a PC with Excell..I noted from the other thread you pointed me at that you have a clever use for it to ‘sort out’ planned recordings etc…maybe it’s something I should get..
In the meantime we will see how we go along, then decide if we will get an HB-1000 to run alongside the HD-1100S.
Thank you for the time and detail you have taken to track down the problem and find a workable solution for me…very kind of you.
What a great forum..
Thanks again guys,
Steve

ParticipantHi Steve. You don’t need Excel if you download the .htm file at the link I posted. This can be opened by any web browser using the File open option.
Really pleased it worked out.
If you are confused by the explanation I can help if you download the actual file and open it in the web browser of your choice.

Any help would be appreciated newcomer to the Humax freesat box had a Manhatten before.
Just bought a Humax 1100s 2 weeks ago set it up and running perfect.
On friday my partner tried putting Cbeebies on for our little girl and it said weak or signal problem and the channel would not come on
So i checked the signal info and it said good signal on both tuners.
Thought it might be a one off but Cbeebies now wont come on it says ‘the receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak.
So i tried a factory reset and still no joy and i also tried doing a manual channel search it finds the channels but says the signal is too weak.
I have also cut the 2 sat cables and redone them from scratch and still no luck.
Now we also dont have channel 4 or channel 5 etc
I thought it might be the dish but ive plugged our old box the Manhatten freesat recorder in and all the channels come on and the signal on both tuners looks fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi welcome to our forum. As the box is new I would contact the retailer you bought it from and get it replaced.

Inactiveok thanks that was my original thought but didn’t want to look stupid if it was something that could be resolved on here.
And It was looking at the wrong transponder

InactiveLooking at your list in the above it looks like it is not picking up some of the transponders. I did a STB search for channels and it found about 333 tv channels. Do you think it is definitely faulty?

Definetely missing some transponders if you did a full fta scan of all FTA channels at 28.2E. Current count is near 400.
http://en.kingofsat.net/tv.php?&pos=28.2E&standard=All&ordre=freq&filtre=Clear
Download this file and open it in a web browswer
https://www.adrive.com/public/t3jBkt/FoxsatStaticMK2_011.htm
In freesat mode check one channel from each transponder. With a bit of luck may spot a pattern. It could be a power supply issue which for instance could mean you aren’t getting horizontally polarised channels. The fact that your other sat box works kind of confirms it must be faulty.
