If I were Humax my starting mantra would be Stability .. Stability .. Stability.
Fundamentally the box needs stability and predictability. It needs to switch back on from where you left off, not the game of will it do a full boot, start at the home screen, or actually be on the last channel? Essentially it also needs to stop randomly resetting, freezing then crashing when watching recorded or online content.
That would be great but to fix every problem is likely to involve more software work than Humax would want.
> Fix the ‘java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException: android.media.MediaDrm.finalize() timed out after 10 seconds’ error (Most Common)
> Fix the ‘java.util.ConcurrentModificationException’ error
> Fix the ‘java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 5, Size: 0’ error
I don’t think I have seen any of those problems; under what circumstances do you experience them?
Nice to have:
> Add support for Freeview Channel List Management (CLM).
> Fix periodic picture stutter on iPlayer and ITVX, like it skips a frame or two. This is on standard content, HD and UHD (iPlayer only).
I have seen that on iPlayer UHD recordings but not iPlayer HD. I don’t use ITVX much so can’t really comment.
> When returning to the recordings list after watching a programme it is the one still highlighted, not a random programme if other recordings have started in the meantime. Would help stop accidental deletions.
I have got used to it but I agree it is slightly irritating but it wouldn’t be high on my personal lit of things to do.
> Option to undelete programmes. Leave them recoverable for a number of days and ability to do a manual empty bin.
> Automatic management of old finished programmes and series in the recording schedule. Programme CRID codes are only valid for 13 weeks after a series has finished before the broadcaster can use it again for something completely different. Anything older than this should be automatically deleted like the 5000-T did.
They would be moderately useful improvements but again not high on my list of things to do.

InactiveWith my Aura frustratingly doing random reboots when watching recordings and occasionally stuttering on playback, I was wondering if there was any further news yet on when the update will be rolled out please?
I’m poised to go for a Manhattan T4-R and ditch the Aura, but was tempted to hang on a little longer and put up with the annoying bugs given there’s an Aura update in the pipeline.

If the Manhattan satisfies your needs then buy it. I’m not convinced that there’s going to be an update coming anytime soon.

InactiveMy Aura does enough for me as I only use it as a basic pvr. But if I was to buy a new pvr I think I’d buy a Manhattan.

I asked Humax a couple of weeks ago about the update and my ongoing several month old com5 issues for the fifth time and received a ridiculous reply to the issue and a clueless response to the update, if you do not need the extra recording of an Aura I would 100%|get the Manhattan. This was their reply from 2 days ago……………..

Happy new year to you too!
Thank you for reaching out to us about the ongoing blackout issue on those channels. We’re sorry to hear that you’re still experiencing this problem.
On our side, we currently do not see any widespread reports from other users, even within specific areas of the UK, as we did before. However, we recommend checking the transmitter updates and planned maintenance schedules on the Freeview website (https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/platform-management/planned-engineering-works). Additionally, retuning your channels periodically might help restore access.
Regarding the upcoming update, we’re unable to share specific details at this stage about what it will address. Rest assured, as soon as we have any confirmed information, we will promptly share it with all our users.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Best regards,
Humax Customer Support

InactiveSome members seem to be 100% sure there’s an update coming anytime now, yet if anyone contacts Humax they won’t confirm anything, which seems somewhat negative.
We’re all in the same situation, some slowly getting more p*ssed off with the Aura’s issues, some getting rid and changing altogether .
For those who are persevering there’s nothing to do but wait and hope !

I count myself as a sceptic just because of the almost nonexistent support from Humax over the last few years.

Thank you for your support

From what I know (and sorry cannot go into details) optimistically we are looking at least Q2 before available.

InactiveThanks for the update, Barry. Hopefully it will be worth the wait when it finally lands.
Any further information appreciated provided it doesn’t break any NDA.

InactiveApologies for the delay. Having contacted the CEO and several senior employees about the system update they stated would be released in January, unfortunately as you’d expect from Humax these were the three replies which directly and completely contradicts what they previously said about specific issues being fixed. The CEO will be recontacted about this in due course –
The release date is yet to be communicated.
Our team is actively working on the next software update, which has faced some unforeseen delays.
We do not have any specific date for the release or any details as to what the update will include at this time.
