InactiveI’ve had a series of these phantom failed recording in the past too, I just deleted them. Good luck trying to find the cause, the software for these machines seems to be far too complicated.

It’s only a theory but this does seem to be related to the broadcaster using the same series code for multiple series. The phantom failed recordings all appeared around the time one series ended and the following started the next day. Might have to wait a long time for a similar recording sequence.
I wasn’t bothered about the actual failed recordings, more concerned it may have failed a second recording in the same time slot (possibly an overun from one due to complete as the next one started).

ParticipantOut of interest (bearing in mind the original failures were BBC1 HD) I have added the follow up BBC HD programme to the schedule (Escape To The Country) so I have two recordings starting at 15:00 one on BBC1 HD and one on BBC 2 HD. In theory only a single tuner should be capable of both recordings. If around after 15:00 I will check that all other channels are viewable.

InactiveI had the same failed recording again on Monday evening BBC 1 HD 8.30pm 0 minutes. Been getting this now for close on two years – though not every single Monday. It may have a rest for a few weeks then start again.
I still think that it goes back to the time when I deleted Panorama from series link. Although there is nothing in the listings I suspect it’s an orphan file. Carrying out a reset hasn’t cured it. I have begun to think of it as a friend and I may give it a name in the fullness of time.

ParticipantThis getting more and more bizarre. Todays recording of A Place To Call Home is missing(no failed recording). Next Mondays is scheduled. Going to try a reboot to see if the failed recording surfaces.
After reboot – failed recording appeared.

Baffled – set a new one again for Monday. No issue with same series on Foxsat-HDR and HDR-FOX-T2. Loath to try a factory reset as everything else is working OK (25 active recordings). Grasping at straws, cleared out all expired reservations. Interested to see what happens Monday.

InactiveAre you of the opinion it’s definitely an EPG or a software issue or could it be something like bad sectors on the HDD which is causing this problem. I suppose there is no issue with the LNB i.e. intermittent or anything like that?
If it was definitely just the one programme then the suspicion would lie with the broadcaster. However, from reading back it looks as though this isn’t confined to just the one programme or one channel.

ParticipantIt’s confined to the one programme. It can’t be a specific area of the hard disk, it’s simply not possible that the same area of the hard disk is used as there are loads of other recordings added between successful and failed recordings (8 today planned). What appears to happen is the first recording after setting a series works, subsequent ones fail till the series recording is renewed. Today is a new one so if theory is correct it will work. Series works on other Freesat box and Freeview boxes. Also works on other freetime boxes so presumably must be a local issue. No other problems with recordings at all. Signal is 100/100 on pretty well all channels, certainly is on the ones I ever record.

ModeratorNot much help to you Graham I know, but both series are still recording without issue on 1010 & 1100S

Pretty sure I have sorted out why. I have Moving On (14:15-15:00) and Escape To The Country (15:00 – 15:45) scheduled as well as A Place To Call Home. Expected as usual that Moving On will terminate before Escape To The Country starts recording. Looked at the current recordings at 15:02 both BBC 1 HD recordings are still active. Guessing that if this happens the BBC2 HD recording doesn’t start. I will check later how long Moving On overan. Can you add the 2nd BBC 1 HD reservation to see if this is repeatable ?
